Re: Morning after pill...Thankyou(Original post by storminaDcup)
No don't worry honestly, you might feel a little bit tired like I did. Some say they experience excruciating stomach pains, throw up and stuff but looking on the internet at netdoctor, that really is a small minority of women. I don't know, it depends how real you feel the risk is. Bear in mind though the map will screw your cycle up for a while. I'm still waiting for my period and I took it on Sunday and I should be on this week.
I can get transport into town tomorrow, and since it's unlikely I'm pregnant I don't think the decrease in effectivity will really matter
(thats what she tells herself anyway

Re: Morning after pill...No you shouldn't be worried if you didn't have sex AND he didn't come. He'd have to be a pretty damn fertile bloke to get you pregnant.(Original post by Tinkerbee)
Scew anoness
Debating whether or not to go an get the morning after pill.
Didn't actually have sex last night, but there was some nakedness and messing around
without condom... he didn't come or anything so was wondering whether its worth the effort? Don't really fancy ingesting stupid amounts of hormones when I don't need to.
Period is due in about 4 days...
Worth getting it or not? I'm not particularly worried as nothing happened as such, but should I be?
Edit: Hang on. Im confused... Did you have any form of intercourse? -

Re: Morning after pill...You're not making this very clear... lol. If he didn't enter you, then the chances of you getting pregnant at all are very slim. Sperm don't just swim out of the penis and think "I'm gonna stay in these bed sheets then go and swim into her vagina and make her the next virgin mary!!!"(Original post by Tinkerbee)

I suppose I could always sell my story to the Sun if the worst comes to the worst

Re: The Contraceptive Pill - information and questionsNo one knows how your body is going to react you may bleed then or may not. You could spot through out the month it just depends on your body. If you are using it to avoid your period during freshers maybe ask for norothisterne which dr's prescribe for people going on holiday to delay their periods.(Original post by Anonymous)
hi, im just about to start using the pill for the first time and am a little confused. the docter said i should start the pill on the first day of my period but the thing is i have no idea when its due. im starting uni in 2 weeks and obviously dont want to be on for freshers week, i was wondering if i started the pill on monday and took it for 21 days would i not get my period this month until after the 21 days are up!?! or does it not work like that! sorry if that makes no sense! -
Re: The Contraceptive Pill - information and questionsYou need to keep going. And since you missed one within the final week of the pack, you need to start the next pack immediately (i.e. no break). And use condoms for the next 7 days.(Original post by iloveyou_xx)
oooo i'm so annoyed at myself. i've been on the combined pill for a few months and i've never ever forgotten to take one. i went to a music festival one weekend and even managed to remember then. but yesterday i missed a pill for the third time this month. i missed the first one just over a week ago, then took it with the next days one, which was when i remembered. then a few days later i missed another one, but took it as soon as i remembered. now, a few days later, i've forgotten to take yesterdays pill. and i don't know what to do now because i know there's some kind of rule about missing three or more pills? including yesterday's missed one i only have five more pills left in the pack. help me pleeeease

I'm not really familiar with pills containing a placebo week, so it's hard to say. If you start with the sugar pills, you will only be protected once you have been taking the active pills for 7 days, so it seems a bit pointless to start on inactive ones. What brand is it? I can try to have a look to see if I can make more sense of the situation(Original post by Anonymous)
I'm starting the Pill foe the first time and the sources of into I have say different things!
Book from doctor: start the pack, with the first hormone pill of the correct day AFTER the sugar pills.
Book in the pack: Start in the red section, on the correct day (the red section contains 5 sugar pills and 2 hormone pills (these are for Sat and Sun))
Does it matter then, in the second case here that I start on the sugar pills?
What one do I follow? The instructions in the pack?
Also, as soon as you first took a hormone pill, did you feel sick or anything? -
Re: The Contraceptive Pill - information and questions
i was just wondering what everyone's opinion was on the implant?
im on cerazette (sp? sorry) at the moment and it works fine and i have no periods (which apparently can happen and makes me very happy, i do get one sometimes but not regular)
but just im scared in freshers so much will be going on i'll forget to take it.
I'm not looking to sleep around i just hate to miss taking them
i was considering the implant but im worried it could make me ill (like any but this thing is inside me!) and i quite like to try and control what goes on in my body.
My friend got the implant and was on like all the time... not good
so anyone whose on it or had it i'd like some info thanks
-
Re: The Contraceptive Pill - information and questionsThe hormone in the implant is very similar to the one in Cerazette, so it's likely if you're ok with Cerazette you'll be ok with Implanon (but can't be guaranteed). I've got one and haven't had a period for over a year, though only about 20% of women are completely period-free on it. There's another thread for implants though, if you have any more questions.(Original post by hattilongsoks)

Re: The Contraceptive Pill - information and questions
K - I'm still a bit confused. I ran two packs together without having a break and I just finished the pack there now - so technically its week three if you include the week i should have had a break but didnt. so if i have a break now at the end of the pack am i still going to be protected or should i take the first week of the next pack and then take a break?
-
Re: The Contraceptive Pill - information and questionsSo long as you've had at least 3 weeks tablets, you can have a week off - it doesn't have to be a whole multiple of 3 weeks.(Original post by smoosabitmega)

Re: The Contraceptive Pill - information and questionsI'm not bothered about being protected. I'm on them so I can control my periods when I go overseas.I'm not really familiar with pills containing a placebo week, so it's hard to say. I was thinking yesterday what is the point of starting on the sugar pills (if you were supposed to start on the inactive ones, why would they say to start on the first day of your period...?)...so I think it'd make more sense to start on a hormone pill. The brand is the generic (poor student) Nordette.
I thought all pills had placebo weeks? Or do other brand not include a placebo week? -
Re: Injection, Implant, Coil - information and questionsOMG i didn't know that it's not a good idea if you suffer from depression because my doctor wants to give me the implant even though i have a history of depression ans suicide attempts....hmmmm(Original post by dani_88)
The doctor ADVISED me that the implant wasn't necessarily a good idea if you've ever suffered from things like depression, anxiety problems, ocd, panic attacks etc.. but in any case - if it's a form of contraception that you do want, i don't think they can actually stop you from giving it a try...

Re: The Contraceptive Pill - information and questions
Is it safe to have sex without a condom when you're on the pill?

My boyfriend hates condoms lol, and told me that he never used them with his previous partners as they were on the pill too. I was a bit
hearing that. Didn't seem right to me
Someone help me out please!

The way i see it is - it's a long term method.. so even though they can take it out.. you have to book appointments, and well they'd rather not take it out before 6 months and they advise you to try other methods and what not if you get any side effects.. and if you're one of the unlucky ones, whose side effects is up and down hormones.. well, you wont know til you try... but at least with the pill and stuff, if you have side effects you can just stop.. I don't know it's your choice.. and everyone does react completely differently! I have friends that swear by the implant and think it's the best thing ever.. I was just unlucky and it made me almost depressed..

Re: Injection, Implant, Coil - information and questions
This might be a stupid question, I dont know, but with the fpa website and they tell you where the clinics are, can you just ring up and ask to book an appointment to get the implant and then you can go get it/go on the pill for a bit & then get it if you dont have funny side effects. (Ive read through pretty much everything linked above about it by the way).
Ive not been to my original doctors for years and sorta changed to one near my uni (I filled in a form but never went back for the basic height, weight, pee test check up) so Im not totally sure where Im registered or anything. The pill seems a bit...well, Im forgetful and the implant would just be easier assuming I didnt react funny to it, like above. I'll probably only look into it when Im back at uni in a week or two, no issue with my mum noticing anything then, but just thought Id ask... -
Re: The Contraceptive Pill - information and questionsYep- you really don't get periods in the same sense anymore. It's normal.(Original post by Maryk)
Hey, quick qs again. Started on the pill 3 weeks ago finished the first pack on tues and having my 7 day break but i have not come on my period is this normal 4 ppl who are quite new to the pill? xxx
Same with my boyfriend, lol. I would make sure he's been checked out before you sleep with him without a condom. Is it safe to have sex without a condom when you're on the pill?
