not at all, "proper" dubstep was born from a mixture of 2 step garage, jungle and aspects of dub and reggae. to a certain extent, a lot of the guys at the front of the scene like rusko and caspa are not really what the underground scene is about. It's not really about top 40 remixes and mindless wobble.
Dubstep is more about the progressive underground dance scene. Then there's the offshoots that have come from a focus on subbass as the fulcrum for the genre. That's what makes it such a versatile area of music and what has made it spread so fast.
glad you're on this thread, truth, cringed when i first saw it. so many people are misinformed about dubstep.

:listen: it doesn't bother me too much. i quite like the split between the faggot middle class doorly, nero scene and the real stuff

The guy didn't even credit Agent K for robbing their vocals Prime example of what I said in the post above, no respect for other producers on one side of scene

Here's the original breaks mix of that haha

Phat Riderz remix is better though

Any chance you could recommend me some dubstep with the strongest influence of reggae if you know what I mean.

    Cheers

anything by osc for that matter

look up a guy called dub terror

    not really the typical suggestions.

a lot of stuff on dmz has quite a lot of reggae/dub influences

oh yeah how could i forget... l-wiz
very nice clean sounds reggae vibes from them
look for a tune called mojito

most of the big name producers have tunes with big reggae vibes really, just a matter of fishing them out

For some reason dubstep music reminds me of down syndrome when I listen to it sober.

I don't regard myself as a proper dubstep-head even though i enjoy the occasional track so i don't know what you lot think of this but i still wanted to share a new artist that i discovered recently :p: Anyway, he calls himself Mt Eden Dubstep and i really like his stuff - he's even got a free downloadable album up here.

mate don't even start with all the 'filth metaphors' lol. we get enough of that on youtube haha.

The one belowe is a really melodic tune. Joker is sick, i've seen him at warehouse project in manchester, really distinctive sound but this one is.. 'epic'. The only word to describe it:
