Re: The Dubstep SocietyI'm gonna hold him to that. Was the same guard that tried to move me on for smoking a 'cigarette' inside, lol.(Original post by SecondHand)
Chunky shutting down the show like a true gentleman.

Re: The Dubstep SocietyCooly G is so sick. If you're interested you can stream her whole new album here, it's amazing: http://www.xlr8r.com/news/2012/07/st...but-album-hype
On the subject of amazing music, this is Dusk and Blackdown's new tune with Burial, proper dark rolling El-B style garage, sick stuff. Burial's had such a good year.

Re: The Dubstep Society
Free download from myself, a track i wrote around a year ago but didn't see the light of day for various reasons. I've lost the project file now, so decided to give the audio away. Minimal tribal music.

Re: The Dubstep Societyyeah coki played a lot of hard stuff, i went off to chill on the sofas for a lot of it tbf...(Original post by Ursin)
Nope, being 17 sucks...but I've seen recordings and it looked awesome. I imagine Coki plays too much 'hard' stuff...his tracks like Goblin and Tree Trunk, am I right? There's only so much of that kind of stuff I can take. And you're right, Mala would be unmissable, I bet he has so many good tunes to pull out the bag.
ahhhh that sucks. when are you 18?

Re: The Dubstep Societywhere's that 25th august night?(Original post by DeniedExistence)
They seem to DJ a lot more separately these days than they used to, though they still do sets as Digital Mystikz. Not sure whether this is because their styles are changing a lot from how they used to be, or if its just because Coki's a lot more confident in his DJing ability now, he's improved a lot since I first saw him. Love them both, Mala's a more skillful DJ but Coki has more dubs I like. They're both playing together in London on the 25th August along with Kode9, Breakage, Terror Danjah etc which should be mad.
On a different note, did anyone catch People Just Do Nothing on the BBC? It's a mockumentary type thing based around a pirate radio station in West London, bit more garage related but I reckon it'll be relevant to the interests of a lot of people on here, it's jokes. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...st_Do_Nothing/

Re: The Dubstep SocietyUrban Nerds at the Scala in Kings Cross, you can see details/lineup/ticket info here: https://urban-nerds.ticketabc.com/events/carnival/ Never been to the Scala before but with a lineup like that on I reckon its time I checked it out, insanity.

Re: The Dubstep SocietyI'd be pretty disappointed if iI'd gone to see a Coki set and it was crap tbf. And I'm 18 in April, so a while yet(Original post by littleshambles)
yeah coki played a lot of hard stuff, i went off to chill on the sofas for a lot of it tbf...

Although where I live it's not like I'd have much chance to catch people like Mala and Coki anyway.

Re: The Dubstep SocietyNice.(Original post by Blame)
Know a few people are fans of Coki in here, so thought i'd share this for those who hadn't heard it in a set.

Re: The Dubstep SocietyYou should definitely see him, he's mesmerising live!(Original post by Ursin)
I almost went to see James Blake, but I didn't, when I heard he covered Anti War Dub I was gutted that I missed out, it would have been awesome to see that. -
Re: The Dubstep SocietyHis band show was the biggest load of horse **** i've ever seen. Would like to see him dj(Original post by Mo-Amin)
You should definitely see him, he's mesmerising live!
I accidentally told him and his band how bad it was too
Realised i was saying how bad it was when i went past after his show. My mates realised it was him, and went back over and had a photo with him. I told him how good his early stuff (his CMYK ep is one of my favourite eps ever) was but tactically avoided his new stuff as it is 95% terrible to a new level for me. One of my most embarassing moments of my life anyway, but i'd avoid his live show if it is like anything i saw. Hit and miss though maybe, seen them perform some cool stuff, but it was entirely rubbish when i saw it full of his terrible album!

Re: The Dubstep SocietyMy mate's been to a DJ set where he played loads of old school hip-hop and then also a night where he did some Harmonimix stuff with Trim, both sick apparently.(Original post by Gob Bluth)

Haha that's a pretty funny story, must have been seriously awkward!
When did you see him?
I saw him in November and I thought it was fantastic, his mate doing the live drums was fantastic - especially during CMYK. The sound was a teeny bit off I think but it was a really good show when I saw him, will always remember I Never Learnt to Share.
If you saw him fairly early on I can imagine it being weird, like maybe he hadn't got the live set-up right then or something. -
Re: The Dubstep SocietySee if he did CMYK i would have been happy. All he did was play every single track of his album in order. £10 just to see an album recital of an album i quite frankly heavily dislike. I understood it would be a lot of that, but i expected something like CMYK, but it didn't come. So gutting. Postpone ideally would be the track played. It is my most played song on my last.fm ever out of the 70000 tracks or so on there(Original post by Mo-Amin)

120 or so plays which is massive for me. Mad love for that track, and for the EP in general.
I saw him just after his album launch which might explain his pro album leanings in Bristol. Was awkward. I was quite drunk and just annoyed at his show and my anger got let out in front of him
Still funny story really. I suckered up to hm after though as said. I told him how much i rated CMYK EP so not all that bad for him i guess aha. I'm sure it was one of his first live shows. Sure it's got a lot better. Probably shouldn't be so harsh, would probably see him again in that sense. I just hate his depressive stuff with the awful vocals. Really hate it.
I would really like to see both of the DJ sets you mention he did though. Sounds sick. I really like his harmonimix song. Can't wait for that release. -
Re: The Dubstep SocietyYeah, not having a proper setlist is kinda ****ty tbh, especially if it was just album stuff. We got Vondelpark as the support and I'd never heard of them then but I digged their stuff and they did a good job of setting the mood right.(Original post by Gob Bluth)

But yeah fair enough if you don't dig his piano-y stuff, he does make quite a variety of music. He did a good job of keeping things fresh more or less with us though.
Yeah I'm seriously jealous of my mate, they did sound awesome.
