Broadcasting Tower
Hi,
I'm an international student coming to UK for the first time. I'll be attending LUBS starting this September for my MSc, and I need some opinion about Broadcasting Tower flats.
I just got an offer for the standard ensuite, should I go there, or are there better options for my situation?
Thanks!Last edited by soeganco; 18-05-2012 at 11:07. -

Re: Leeds Accommodation 2012 Thread
Anyone know whether it's necessary to have an en-suite? Think I want to go Montague Burton but I'm not sure whether sharing the bathroom will be an issue, like are the showers warm enough to share between 5 people/what are the toilets like/how much space etc.
Also, just wondering if you guys think a common room is necessary? Since Montague doesn't have that either which is also putting me off. -

Personally I would have definitely applied for it if I had been able to afford it but I'm trying to budget. Looks pretty popular as well! -
Re: Leeds Accommodation 2012 ThreadI know you're looking for a response from current or other prospective students but in the meantime...(Original post by Soggy Cherry)

No problem at all with the amount of hot water even if you're all showering straight after each other (which is unusual because normally people are up and out at different times for lectures) Not sure what else you want to know really - a toilet is a toilet in my view, can't really think of anything to say. And do you mean the amount of space in the bathroom or generally?
As far as having a common room goes; everyone wants one before they move in. And then nobody ever uses them
Common rooms will occasionally get used if people want to watch a big match but that's about it. Nobody ever goes and sits there and just chills. So most people don't miss having one - most socialising/pre-drinks etc is done in the kitchens.

Re: Leeds Accommodation 2012 ThreadOkay thanks a lot, just had my worries of showering in cold water every morning, the toilet's don't worry me too much. But anyway I've ended up choosing James Baillie instead, which means I could get an en suite but I'm not too bothered. And at least it does have a common room, even though like you say it probably won't get used much. Thanks for the help anyway!(Original post by accomoffice)

Re: Leeds Accommodation 2012 ThreadThere's Essentials in the Students' Union which is 3 minutes (all the stuff is from the Co-op so not mega cheap); Tesco Express opposite Parkinson steps (so 5 minutes) and then a big (but not very nice) Morrisons about 10-15 minutes walk (or about 4 stops on the bus on the way back).
Lots of people get stuff delivered so maybe worth getting together with your flatmates to do a big shop online? -
Re: Leeds Accommodation 2012 ThreadOh right didn't know you could get stuff delivered so I'll keep that in mind. Thank you very much!(Original post by accomoffice)

Re: Leeds Accommodation 2012 Thread
Hello everyone,
My name's Lydia and I work for the Students' Union here at Leeds!
If you're not quite sure which hall to go for, then you could try checking out the union's Hall Selector tool!
http://www.leedsuniversityunion.org....alls-selector/
I coordinate teams of students who live in halls and put on events for all the students living in their hall! We'll be updating our website soon with info about Freshers' Week events, and there's already the official Facebook groups for all the halls for those who want to meet their new flatmates!
If you've got any questions about the social side of living in halls, just drop me a message
