France - CAF - documents
I've been in Paris since October (here till end of Jan) and I've only just got back the "attestation de loyer" form from the landlord.
I went to the CAF the other day and I found out I need a couple more things
- some sort of proof of medical insurance
I lost my EHIC somewhere in the UK but I'm going to call them monday morning to sort that out...
- "une déclaration sur l'honneur garantissant que vous disposez de resources suffisantes"
my reaction to that was just LOL. What the hell is that? Do I just follow this template and write I have enough money to not end up a hobo??
Another thing worrying me is that it might take a while to get a new EHIC... they backdate the CAF 3 months tops apparently so if I submit it early Jan, will I still get all my money since October (being the first month) doesn't count anyway?Last edited by Breadster™; 13-12-2009 at 06:49. -
Re: France - CAF - documentsOctober does count, it's just that they always pay one month after (so if you move out on the 31st June you'll still get APL in July).(Original post by Breadsterâ„¢)

It's become very lately. They cut mine off in August, though I'm hoping to get it all come through next week, which will be a nice Christmas present. As for the letter, I wrote something along the lines of :
Madame, Monsieur,
Je sousigné M. Prénom NOM déclare sur l'honneur posséder des ressources suffisantes à financer mon existence en France.
fait à Town, le date
I don't know where you get your money from, I'd add the following to the sentence if you have a loan from the SLC, just to be on the safe side : "ayant souscrit un prêt étudiant auprès du Student Loans Company à la hauteur de AMOUNT."
I'd also stick in some sort of document from your loan, just to be sure... -
Re: France - CAF - documents
Thanks for your reply wes.
Are you sure I'd still get October-November? I was pretty sure that they make it clear that you don't get any aid for the first month of your stay.
Also, I don't have a student loan this year, my parents are helping me out...should I mention that? I guess I could get give them a bank statement from BNPP but I've only got like 1 1/4 month's rent in that account.
Edit: Another thing, is getting the EHIC the best way of going about assuring them of your health insurance ? I'm only here for a little while longer so I'm thinking it's pointless/too much hassle to try and get social security here.Last edited by Breadster™; 13-12-2009 at 08:17. -
Re: France - CAF - documentsThe EHIC is the best you can get really, you just risk to get into a mess with the social security. If you haven't taken a loan or something then just say you have the means to live, it should be enough.(Original post by Breadsterâ„¢)

You get APL for every month you live there, but you don't receive it the first month as it's paid in arrears.
