Pharmacology questions

My parents know a guy who wasn't accepted into medschool so he got a degree in pharmacology and reapplied for medicine which he then got into. I'm thinking about doing the same thing since my grades weren't good enough for medicine. But would it be possible to study one year of pharmacology and then transfer to medicine?
I'm also wondering what universities I should apply to with my grades. I'm in the IB and I'm guessing my predicted grade will be around 34 points. I have biology and chemistry at higher level with a 7 and 5 in each. Right now I'm liking Kings College and Reading but do I have a shot of getting in there? Also which schools have good reputation? I'm not British so I don't know a lot of these things. Thanks for any help.

Certainly, there are loads of graduate courses for med entry. I've applied for pharmacy and I will read that if I am rejected from my four med schools and then transfer to med, at least, that's one option.
Hmm but some of my teachers have said that its extremely hard to transfer to medicine and only a few can do it. What are the chances that I can transfer after a years time? Do I need to be the best in the class? And if I decide to get a degree in pharmacology, how much of an advantage would it give when reapplying for medicine? And this may be a stupid question but whats the difference between pharmacy and pharmacology?
