Aston Martin have released official pics of their new Cygnet, based on the Toyota IQ city car. It is set to cost £20,000, double the money of the IQ...but get this, you must already own or buy an Aston Martin to be allowed to buy this one! so although this should have meant owning an Aston Martin was now much more realistic and affordable...it turns out it's doesn't. Your thoughts...

I think this must be a joke. It is a concept, I don't think it will ever go on sale and if it does, no one will buy it.

why on earth are you laughing at the fact that you must already own an aston? It'll be ridiculous for aston martin to release a £20k car that lots can buy to the general public - any exclusivity they enjoy as a brand will be completely ruined. Giving it to other aston owners only keeps some of that exclusivity and doesn't tarnish the brand too much - although I agree, it's a stupid car.

I actually think it looks quite good

Maybe not worth £20,000 but people don't seem to understand the concept of economies of scale - it's not necessarily the badge that is responsible for this price tag, but the limited numbers in which they will be produced.

There are many uses for this car. If you live in the capitol it's not subject to the same taxes/charges as a regular aston, but the main appeal is when the wife nags "you're buying an aston I want one too" it will only cost 20k instead of 100k and will be more woman friendly.

True that, at least she will be able to park it/not prang it/not crash under all the power.

That is probably the only plus. But a woman driving an Aston is wrong in the first place, so I don't think they should make it at all.

If you're driving in an urban area at peak times, what's the point in taking your DB9 when you're not going to use its performance, and run the risk of getting it scratched, waste a load more petrol pointlessly, and not find big enough spaces to park in a 'safe' area? IMO this car is the answer to all these problems that are faced by some Aston Martin owners.

They have no need to worry about "looking poor" because people who know about the system recognise that they have an expensive Aston Martin sitting at home for them to take out at the weekend.
