Then there are loads we'll need for registration and other such things once we arrive... I'm excited though!

A dinner party. wahey!

O dear......so the computer is in A&E...nevermind.
If you go:

Start/run
Type "cmd"
Then "ipconfig"

It will give you some information, it should be obvious whether it states along the lines of:

"ethernet adapter"

If you aren't sure, right click, select all, right click, copy. Then paste here. Somebody will tell you

Another way is to look physically, if you look here:

http://www.communica.se/bilder/produkter/socket/cf_10100_ethernet.jpg

You will see the shape of plug (called RJ45) that should be present on your laptop or desktop (don't get confused about what that socket is on, ignore all but the shape of the socket). You should also have a similar but slightly smaller one (usually) which is a modem socket. Most computers for the past few years will have ethernet. If you haven't, for a laptop with a PCMCIA slot, budget about £10 from ebay, for a desktop, budget less if willing from ebay or slightly more if you will require purchase and fitting at local computer shot, item needed, 10/100 network card.

And in terms of the cable, you're basically looking for a patch lead. If you have a laptop, consider how far from the plug you may want to be. I went for 10m which meant I could use my laptop wherever I wanted in my room (except the toilet, doh, jk )

You could scan in your passport photos or get some taken by a digital camera with a white background and scale down to correct size, voila, pennies to print then.

My friend had a problem with his PSU on his computer, so he wanted to go down to PC casualty, a computer shop specialising in repairs on upper brook street, just down the road from where we lived. He called a taxi (too far to walk with a computer). He said "PC casulty, do you know where it is?"

"Sure!"

3 mins later he was dropped off, computer and all, outside Accident and Emergency. He was too embarrassed to say "No! PC CASUALTY!" so walked the extra 100 metres to PC casualty.

I wonder if he will read this??
