Architecture summer schools?

There aren't many that I know of, but two spring to mind.

http://www.bartlett.ucl.ac.uk/architecture/summerschool.htm - £650 fees and £150 additional costs

http://www.aaschool.ac.uk/summerschool/ - £1445 fees + £50 temporary membership.

Extortionately expensive for a few days of teaching. I'll run a TSR summer school and I'll only charge you £400, how does that sound?

Joking aside, if you've got the money to spare and you really really want to do it then go ahead. Teaching also varies widely between schools and because these are both at the conceptual end of architecture, you can't really draw parallels across to other schools.

I'd save my money and buy a few books or work in a firm for a few weeks over the summer. Its not so much about the course, its what you'll be doing for the 40+ years after finishing school.

Architecture Summer School - 28 June to 2 July 2010

The Architecture Summer School is designed to support and encourage students who are thinking about studying architecture at university. Summer school students will stay four nights in the student flats on the campus. The summer school is free, and is aimed at students from a background where students are less likely to progress to university. For example students who would be the first in their family to go to university, or who are disabled, or are looked-after children. Details will be published on www.uwe.ac.uk/bne in Spring 2010.

Summer Schools are only there to rinse internationals for money, they exist outside the whole uni application process, not rigorous enough to help with the course you end up on, and obviously don't help getting a job years later.

Over summer; Get a job doing something menial, start reading again, and go on holiday.
