perhaps aiming to prevent things like Smoking, Binge Drinking, drug addictions and obesity- e.g. more propoganda on how unhealthy it is and the real dangers instead of posters of new moon on every other bus!
Better treatment for mental health issues. Treatment for all, regardless of age etc

You're applying for medicine and you don't know your research :s-smilie:
sorry, I didn't mean to be judgemental
apologies

The NHS have been particularly discriminatory with regards to treating the elderlky whom have mental illness

long term untreated mental illness causes physical deterioration - varias studies have shown - including one highlighted by Caroline Shreeve that those with depression have a significant lower white blood cell count than those who are not sufferring from depression. Thus weakness in immune system and needing further (more costly) treatment in a general hospital. Links are even begining** to emerge with cancer.

**further resarch is being done

While I'm more than happy to talk about interview questions I think it's important you take your own active role and research

i believe me asking is an active role lol
fair point though....

That is not acceptable.
You clearly aren't all that interested in medicine.

No, asking me to tell you specific problems is just you not doing your own necessary research. I spoke to you about the issue you brought up and if you have the necessary interest in medicine you will look it up yourself rather than be spoon fed the answer.

What, so if a smoker breaks his leg he won't be treated because he smokes?
I don't see how you can justify refusing treatment by saying its self inflicted or that these people put strain on resources, they're still people.

or an obesely fat matron who worked 50 years in the NHS before you met her.
try refusing her treatment... and duck for cover... it'd be like Big Momma's 'ouse all over again.... :s-smilie:

Any evidence to support that (I would be interested to see if this is true )
Stop treating illnesses directly caused by people, don't treat smoking related incidents, don't treat drink or drug related incidents. Simple.

See above arguments.

Or, if you cba...here is an example.

Stress causes catecholamine release that increases blood pressure, that increases cardiovascular risk. So, if you are the sort of person that winds yourself up easily, you can "cause" yourself to get heart disease. Treatable under your rules?

before people start saying stuff like generally making people's care worse/more selective, could the first thing be to cut the wages of the people who don't "earn their wages" and get rid of managers that are not needed, I read somewhere last week that there are more managers in the NHS than beds (and no, it wasn't sarcasm).

agreed

Sure. I suppose they can do that by their magical ability to decipherer the exact cause which caused the mutations that caused the cancer to be triggered.:p:

they can make a better decision than i can and it wont be the same in all cases.
imo if we have to have a socialist system, an occasional possible miscalculation is better than just treatment to everyone, despite how blatantly they did it themselves
