can you be an actual medical doctor by doing grad med? I read on the King's college website that you can get in with any qualification (an arts degree or even a BTEC or a Nursing diploma) and apparently be a doc. is this true? this is all research for my bro, by the way, I have no intention of wanting to be a doc.

Yes you can. Why do you think people bother with it?

The website waffled on about people going on to being medical journalists, it was quite vague in terms of explaining job ops.

Hmm, strange, maybe they were discussing alternative career options?
4-year GEM courses are definitely there to produce doctors, its just an alternative way of getting into medicine. This website might be helpful- www.medschoolsonline.co.uk
There is a 4 year graduate medicine course, although it might not be the one you are looking at. You would probably be better asking in the medicine section
