If you end up in one of the old, decrepit blocks then it is absolutely dire. When I applied I wasn't aware that there were any "old" blocks, as BGP only advertise the "new" rooms. So I would advise anyone to enquire about this when/before they apply. My entire first year of uni was pretty crapped up due to the horrid accommodation/insanely childish same-sex-flats rule they have at BGP. Sorry to be so harsh. :s-smilie:

Some good news is that there is an on-site shop, and BGP is literally a few minutes walk from the West Entrance to campus.

I have a few mates there and they love it. They're in a pretty nice block/house though, modern furniture in the rooms, good kitchen area, huge fridge and freezer, and all good mates. They go out a fair bit into town and of course onto University Park Campus for societies etc.
Personally, I wouldn't choose it only because I do so many societies and such so spend a lot of time in Portland, and after a few drinks in Mooch/The Den, you don't always feel like a bike ride back to Broadgate!

But it depends what you're into. It's barely any further my taxi/bus to the city centre, cheap enough to get there, and it's a lot closer to the shops in Beeston, so you've got Sainsbury's and Lidl within close reach!

It does, believe me. Especially the studios, which I'd say you should avoid at all cost. I know of many people wanting out of their contracts for them.

Yep, and same!

It's quite a hard decision

I can't go into catered accomodation (well, I suppose I could but it would be a waste of money) because i'm doing Nursing and when i'm on placement i'll be missing meal times.

If you havn't guessed, Nottingham is my firm too! I'm soo excited!!:woo:

I don't want to go to catered either, I'm such a fussy eater lol.
I thought they give you credit to buy food at cafe or something everyday.
I wish there were self-catered halls on campus for undergraduate D:

I can't wait to go there XD

BGP accomodation is quite good though, I quite like it when I went there.
Haven't check out SPC irl yet :/

:ditto:

You could go to Broadgate anyway...it would just involve excercise :p: :p:
If you know you'll be happy there then go for it

Is there a big difference in distance in SPC and BGP? That might help you decide

Involve a lot of exercise and bus money lol.

Well, BGP is right by the west entrance of the University Park...
SPC is 15 mins walk from Jubilee or use the shuttle bus.
Either way its' far away lol.

The accomodation that right between the two are either for post-grad or with share bathrooms. D:

They don't make it easy for us to choose do they

I thought SPC is the cheapest for £98 PWK
and BPG is like £110 PWK for ensuite.
