I done a3 sheets with mark schemes

and from now until the exam on tuedays im doing past papers

Soo, how did everyone find it? I didn't think it was too bad apart from the System Maintenance question which is a topic I'm really rubbish at anyway :P It did annoy me that the really easy questions like "Draw a ring topology" and "Explain how you search for information on he Internet" didn't come up like they usually do as they're just easy marks! I also rather liked the Section B question (I did 19 and 20). I seemed to write quite a lot for it and only finished 10 minutes before the end, whereas in January (I'm re-sitting to secure my A should they take marks off of my coursework) I finished about 40 minutes before the end! I tried to take my time and write loads for each question.

I revised really hard and revised all sections so found it quite easy. The grade boundaries are going to be so high! I finished an hour early. 2hrs 30 is far too long! Only question I was like what the hell was define network topology.. I learnt all the definitions except that one: it's not even on the Mark scheme. It was only two marks so hopefully it won't pull down my grade too much. Just glad it's all over now. Can't believe how much they repeat questions. The exam board must be so lazy!!!!

Yes! The network topology definition was horrible - I'm sure we've never been taught the definition! I just made it up as I know what one is just not the specific word for word definition they like to see! I'm very glad it was only 2 marks!

what did people write for table( primary key and forgein key )

I wrote

DVD information DVD ID(Primary key) title, price

Borrow information: Borrow ID(Primary key),Borrower ID(Foreign Key) and DVD ID(Forgein Key), Borrow date. and return date.

on the front page of the answer booklet (where you put ur name, candidate numebr, etc), there is a section on the right which is where the examiner puts the marks you got for each question. I thought i would be helpful and put the question numbers next to it, in the order i did them. But there was 18 questions but only 14 boxes, but i had already put numbers on the boxes. So i crossed out all the numbers. But then i noticed that on the top, it says, 'for examiner use only'. Now i am really worried. Would anything happen to my paper because i wrote down the numbers but then crossed them out?

Have not seen the paper but if staff is not mentioned in the blurb of the question then I would be surprised if it is on the mark scheme, also not sure it is relevant anyway. Order and DVD tables above look sound as I understand the question mentioned that customers could only order one DVD at a time, once again not seen the actual paper.

For other person above worrying about the front sheet, don't be concerned you won't get pinged fr it

Other than that, I think the exam was way easier compared to January. I was retaking to secure an A.

Are you a teacher or something? And a lot of the order info was includes in the DVD section seeing as they could only get 1 out at time. Therefore what fields would go in the order table. Staff is relevant as you need to see who is dealing with who for auditing etc.

On the answer booklet, at the front page, it say - "Write here how many answer booklets you have used. If you have used two or more booklets, please inset all additional books inside the first book"
There is a box next to it. I though this mean u only have to put a number in the box, if you had used an additional paper. So i just left it blank. Will i be alright? or would anything happen to my paper such as it wont get marked.

I never revised for this exam because I had a more important exam today too.

My normalisation was something like:

DVD[DvdID , Title, Year, Genre, AgeRating]
RENTAL[RentalID, DvdID, BorrowerID, LoanStart, LoanEnd]

Yes I am a teacher and the 2 of you that have outlined similar order tables are basically right. Not convinced staff is relevant as only really needs to be a drop down of staff initials, not really convinced for need for full names of employees whilst they only ever give 2 tables on mark scheme and clearly those are DVD and order. Depends if you get a generous marker and what there skills in dbase construction are like

What did you guys put for the maintenance question. I did Corrective, Adaptive, Perfective and Evaluative(review cycle, check if user is happy, compare against original requirements). I think I'm wrong though! Anyone?

Nope. It was apparently
- updating system
- security issues
- user dissatisfaction
- change in bus environment
- errors

It wasn't asking for types of maintaince but reasons to maintain.
It's in the textbook my teacher showed me :/

Thanks for ruining my summer LOL. I need to stop coming on these threads after exams just makes me depressed. I think it was 8 marks so hopefully I got marks for the DVD table.
