Films Like 'Jarhead'
Hey, I watched Jarhead for the first time today and actually kinda liked it. I was wondering whether anyone had any suggestions for similar films that would be good? i.e. ones more about the actual soldiers etc. rather than just fighting, fighting, fighting.
(thinking about it, Full Metal Jacket may have been a better one to use).

as for the other they are quite dissimilar to jarhead tbh, maybe bar Black hawk down, which feels more like a US war propaganda film

Best war film in ages. Set in Iraq as well.
It's much more accessible than films like apocalype now/full metal jacket etc. They're great films but can be difficult to watch. There's a lot of humour in Hurt Locker.

'Tora, Tora, Tora!' is my fave - it gives a pretty even handed and very precise account of pearl harbour and the days running up to it
