    Re: The site being slow?
Thanks for reporting this again guys.

We think we've found the problem (or at least a problem) which could be causing the freezing. It's posisble that it's the thread view updates which are causing it. The thread views update once an hour and since we're having so many views on the site at the moment when they update it's such a big job that it could be causing things to freeze up.

We've had to turn off the thread view update for now whilst we look for a fix for this. So we will only see the view count for threads updating for a little while (if you were wondering what's going on with some new threads). Hopefully this will only be temporary.

But please do still report any more freezing up as it's possible this may not have been the only cause.

And I'm still getting slowness every so often. Perhaps it's not thread updates then.

Pages stopped loading for me about 10 minutes ago as well. No proxy errors, but nothing loaded at all.

So, pretty close to an "off" switch then? :p:

I know we joke about the off switch, but no.... this wasnt anything like that. I ran a query and it came back with a fatal error and the site stopped working for a few moments. I swiftly apologised to everyone in the subscribers shoutbox :p:

Personally, I quite like it when all the images fail to load and the font and layout reverts to a pre-update version of TSR :teehee:
