Doing an A level in a year or less

I've seen some people mention in old threads about doing an a level in one year. I originally took my German A level a year early and got a C, but I am retaking it in January, however I don't feel this will improve. At the end of this year I will (as long as I don't muck up English and History), grades of AAC. I want to take another A level so that I will have at least a B, which I can use to apply to good universities with. I'm also currently taking As Art, but I'm having a gap year and would like to go travelling by April 2011, and I don't think I'd be able to take an exam for it in January before I go travelling. What I'm trying to ask, is if anybody knows of any A level courses I can do in a year or so, for free, in the Hertfordshire/Greater London area. Or if not for free, what are the cheapest ones available. I would be willling to do part time courses at a college, or an online course. Any help and info would be greatly appreciated.
