    Nope.
They will only look at the location data in the event of a claim.
So in the event of a claim, they will check where it is parked over night detect fronting and fraud of address?

I'd say only if it's there %99 of the time instead of the address you've listed it will be parked.

It's a bit weird. I have two address (uni and home) but I can't list them both as where the car will be kept. I put the uni address because it was cheaper and i'm there about %50 of the time anyway.

I'm considering using my auntie's address because it saves me £300. However, the car would hardly ever be parked there during the day or at night. I would change the address on my license to her address but it seems risky.

Im 18 years and I have had a licence for 8 months now.. Whenever I check my insurance quote from confused.com I always get 20k quotes from insurers ice never heard of.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong?
I just want a decent insurance on a car , doesn't have to be a big engine.

There are loads of hints and tips in this thread if you look through it.

It will depend on a lot of things, when I was looking for insurance for the first time I found these things made a huge differece:

Milage - keep it low. Preferably under 5000.

Add additional drivers with a lot of experience and no points. Although I was the main driver on my car I ended up with 3 additional drivers as each time it made it cheaper.

Postcode - Makes a huge difference. If your going to uni in september, you may find it cheaper to put your home postcode as your postal address and put your uni postcode as your overnight or "at risk" address. Only works in some places though!

Change the car if possible - I found the older and more rubbish the car was the more insurance went up. E.g When I was looking, it was a lot cheaper for insurance to get a newer yaris then an old corsa etc. Try and put it in cars that aren't traditionally boy racer type cars. Also, don't bother with a car that has modifications.

Ring up insurance companies and haggle! This may be a huge difference.

Try more than one comparison site, and try and go directly through some of the companies.

Depending on where you live will depend on how much you get your insurance down to. I wanted a car at 18 but as I lived in a very high at risk postcode I realised it was better to wait a year, as the longer you have your license the more insurance goes down.

For all people insurance differs, but personally when talking to people on here and friends we all seem so to be with similar companies. I would recommend the admiral group (Bell, diamond, admiral etc.), Tesco, sometimes LV. Ask your parents what insurance their with as you may be able to get a multi car discount. Also having a black box can take loads of your premium. A lot of people on here go for the coop box, or ikube etc.

Having trouble finding a decent price insurance for me, 19 year old male driver living in East London, as a named driver without that stupid box thing. I've just recently passed but I found changing the amount of time I've had a license didn't do anything.

My dad's the main driver with 10 years NCD and wants me and my mum to be the named drivers. Our mileage has always been under 4000 each year.

He drives a Toyota Corolla 03 model, 1.6 engine, and everywhere is quoting at least 5 grand which is ridiculous.

By saying you don't want a box, shows that you must intend to drive stupidly in some way. Who do you intend to impress. A nice car impress, not driving a wreck fast. Hence why i didn't go for a £400 cheap car and saved up to get a much nicer, newer car.

My parents don't want that box, it's mainly their car not mine so they have the final decision.

I've decided that since it's going to cost 3 grand to be a named driver on their policy, I may as well get my own car and go with the co-op insurance for 1.5 grand as a main driver so I can start building up my NCB.

Hi guys, I'm looking at car insurance for a Mazda MX-5, but due to my age (19) and 0 no claims, I have so far been unsuccessful (quotes in excess of £16000) and I don't even have any convictions... preposterous prices if you ask me, considering I want to do most driving with an owners club!

I have been looking into buying a car in Poland and having it registered and insured to a Polish address (rooms are mega cheap to rent there), and taking it to the UK for periods of 6 months, which is what many Polish citizens seem to be doing. I managed to get a quote for £200 for the year, which is fantastic, but I'm just concerned as to whether or not this is legal in case I got pulled by UK Police.

Does anybody have any sort of idea about how this would work and if I would be able to do this?

    Thanks, Adam

Fair enough, shouldn't of judged i guess. My parent is glad I'm getting a box, as it acts as a tracker as well and it means I won't drive stupidly. Main driver for me as a 17 year old an a '07 1.4 Honda Civic costing £5,000 gave me a quote for just over £1600. Not bad really considering the cost of the car really.

What's the best way to get it cheap on co-op young drivers? I'm 17, test in 2weeks, been quoted 1.35 on a corsa 05. But I added 2 named additional drivers, is that the best way?

I passed my test like 2 weeks ago, aged 17. And I keep getting quotes such as £20-40,000? I live in Bedfordshire, and my insurance is so high? Any ideas on how to get it cheaper? Without any black box fitted in my car. I'm going to get a Astra or Corsa 1.2-6litres?

Which insurance companies will be cheap?

    Thanks in advance.

Probably yeah, I would actually be a named driver and not the main driver though, hence why its so cheap for me.
A trick I read in another thread was to increase the named drivers mileage on the form (it does say based on the previous 3 months) which is supposed to be legit but I dont know myself.

Without a black box. No one. There isn't normal cheap insurance for young drivers. Especially at 17.

Even with a black box, its still around £1000-2000 depending on circumstances, if your unwilling to have a black box, it just seems like you want to drive erratic, meaning you will cause problems, therefore its either pay big money, or stick to the bus.

Best companies that offer insurance for a 17yr old?
    Hello,

So Ive bought myself a Ford Fiesta Ghia 1.25 1998-2005 model, was looking around on the internet earlier, and on comparethemarket.com "Debenhams" gave me a quote of £1213 (however when I put it on a full uk license its £3210) for one year which has been the best so far, Aviva said my quote would be £6600 and Directline quoted me £3000 odd which is a bit annoying.

Moving on, what are the best companies that will offer me good quotes?

If anyone knows feel free to post it or if anyone has the car I have and has got good insurance then please let me know!

    Thanks

    Ollie
