Re: Black Box Insurance my only option? £1260 from CO-OP Will Pay £50 to find a betteYeah go for it(Original post by TrueUnitedFan)
Exactly, I'm sick of going on buses. Full of dirt add going on a bus and touching the railings it's probably the second most dirtiest thing to touch behind handling money currency.
We'll It seems I won't be able to get a quote to match that similar one I got on co op so I'm gonna go for it.
Tbh, it doesn't seem to bad, I don't need to drive after 11pm, I can handle the speed limits, corners, harsh breaking crap. So long as I drive fine. I shouldn't see the issue.
You adding on the named driver with more miles? you should put yourself as at least 2000 just to be safe as it doesn't go up that much

You can drive after 11pm occasionally without it raising the insurance. Just not daily/on a regular basis.
With the whole corners/harsh braking thing. Not braking harshly is a good way to drive anyway and will save you furhter money on fuel consumption/brake wear etc etc. -
Re: Cheap Car Insurance: Drivers Young And Old. PLEASE READ
Im so stressed. I passed yesterday and still can't find anything less than £4k
I really really don't want a black box, but that looks as though it's the only affordable way. It's a bit of a unique situation as my twin brother and I both passed so both want to be insured on my car (it's just a 1.2 KA).
I've asked around kids in my school and all of them basically have said they're fronting... :/
Any advice? Tried all the common cheap ones like Quinn/Swift/Admiral/Elephant
Edit: To add insult to injury Co-op (As well as many other insurers) are refusing to insure the car with 2 young drivers on it. Even If I just did myself with my mum and dad and all their NCB the lowest I got was 3.5k. I don't know how others have managed 1-2k. I know my postcode is bad now too.
I just don't know what else to do...noone will insure me.Last edited by Mouth; 08-08-2012 at 21:42. -
Re: Cheap Car Insurance: Drivers Young And Old. PLEASE READWhat were your other factors? It can't be just my post code that's ramming it up to 3k :/(Original post by e1usive)
Mouth I just checked mine is around 1.3-1.6k on a 1.3 KA
Well, I guess you aren't a 17 y/o male who passed yesterday?
Seems as though pass plus wasn't worth it either (in terms of lowering insurance) -
Re: Black Box Insurance my only option? £1260 from CO-OP Will Pay £50 to find a betteFine then - at 1000 miles factor in maintenance, petrol, insurance, tax. Might as well call a taxi company to chauffer(sp?) you around... it'll be about £1.20 a mile = £1200 for a 1000 miles. Cheaper than the insurance alone and someone is driving you around.(Original post by JC.)
Who wants to sit on a dirty smelly bus surrounded by scumbags? -
Car insurance - shortened name instead of full name
I found an insurance certificate in my car yesterday, while I was looking at it, I noticed that it had a shortened version of my name rather than my full name. E.g. sam instead of samuel.
Would the insurance company use this as an excuse to not pay out as it does not match the name on my driving licence, and am I better off changing it, or does this not matter? -

Fine then - at 1000 miles factor in maintenance, petrol, insurance, tax. Might as well call a taxi company to chauffer(sp?) you around... it'll be about £1.20 a mile = £1200 for a 1000 miles. Cheaper than the insurance alone and someone is driving you around.
If you want nice things in life you have to be prepared to pay for them.

Re: Black Box Insurance my only option? £1260 from CO-OP Will Pay £50 to find a betteNo, if he spends the most time in the car overall, he's the main driver.(Original post by TrueUnitedFan)
Technically, not really. Every day, I will be driving to work, and from work ONLY. only 3 - 4 days of the MONTH, will he be driving the car on long distance trips.
Which means i am the mainly driver as I'll be using the car the most. -

Re: Insurance question
No, of course you're not. If you have to make a claim, and they find out, they'll void the policy. Then, if it was a third party claim, you'll get 6 points for driving without insurance, and, assuming you've held your licence for less than two years, you'll lose it instantly, and face a hugely increased insurance premium for life (that's after you reapply for your provisional licence, and pass the theory test all over again - not to mention the extended practical test).
-
Re: Insurance questionIt's not worth the risk of investigation in the event of a claim. These are only minor things anyway that shouldn't seriously affect the premium.(Original post by e1usive)
Am I allowed to lie a bit and say it's in a garage overnight ect, and things like, I has a professional fitted alarm and stabiliser? -
A spoiler, probably not but I'd check that with the insurance company but any engine mods you have to declare because if they check you out you can't hide any mods ......(Original post by e1usive)
Okay, I have one more question, I don't have to declare mods for a spoiler which was added before I purchased it right?

Technically you have to declare all mods (not just engine mods). However, if you can prove you bought the car with the spoiler already on you can play all innocent and say you thought it was standard.(Original post by ben935)

Can't get car insurance
I know there are loads of these threads but I'm not getting much response in the main thread so thought I'd just start my own..
