Hi I am going to start MA Interpreting and translation based on Singleton Campus. But I am also looking at HSV and beck house accommodations, do you know if there is there a bus from these two to singleton? What is the best in your opinion? thanks a lot

The number 8 bus runs from the village through Singleton Campus and the City Centre to the Bay Campus. The number 10 runs from the Bay Campus to Singleton Campus through Uplands and Sketty past Beck House although most will walk through the park. The number 8 is currently every 12 minutes and the number 10 every 20 minutes

Random question.. What's the policy with pets in student halls? I'm guessing it's a no go, but I'm wandering what to do with my bearded dragon while at uni, would he be allowed to come along if he was in his terrarium?

Hi there, the general rule is, if you've asked your flatmates and they're happy with it, occasional short stay visitors are allowed. Your guest staying over must be over 18 and can stay for a maximum of 2 nights in any visit and a maximum of 3 visits per term. Hope this has been helpful!

Sorry Lewis, we don't allow pets in halls I'm afraid! Hopefully you'll have someone back at home who will be able to take care of your bearded dragon and you'll also be able to go home occasionally to check on him

The student village won't be available next year. It has already being half-emptied. About the gender ratio, that's a consequence of the subjects in the Bay: engineering and management.

The Hendrefoelan Student Village is still available  The accommodation at HSV is cheap and cheerful and all the rooms are standard with shared bathrooms. We've recently had some wonderful feedback from students who have just finished their 1st year on the Village."The sense of community is overwhelming and has made uni experience incredible"
"Lovely areas, beautiful scenery, lots of greenery"
"Everything you could ask for, everything and everyone is so close"

Hi guys,
I've put Swansea down as my insurance and need to apply for accommodation. I'm going to be studying materials science and engineering which means the best place for me to be staying at is Bay Campus but I'm not sure about the student life around there. Wheres the best place to live for student life? The more suggestions the better!
I'd prefer to live in mixed-gender flats as well.
I'm sort of starting to worry because I feel like I've left applying for accommodation last minute (As I am with pretty much everything but oh well). Where's the best place to live outside of uni accommodation?
Cheers guys!
P.S. Im coming all the way from Manchester.

Firstly the Bay campus is about 2-3 miles out of Swansea on the Eastern approach and outside the campus there is little housing. The nearest large housing area is Port Tennant is over a mile away. There is the possibility of looking for houses there or adjoining St Thomas. Both areas are traditional dockland areas and are not traditional student areas. There is also SA1 which however is very expensive. The traditional student areas are Brynmill and Uplands and these are about 4 miles from the Bay Campus and have regular buses. These are close to the city Centre and are probably your best bet. In addition there is a private Halls of Residence St Davids run by Fresh Student Letting which is very close to the city centre. There are a number of agencies you could try Fresh Student Letting, Student Digz, My Pad, Students4Swansea, 1 Stop Letting Shop are amongst them. Singleton Campus is approximately 5 miles from the Bay Campus and Hendrefoilan Student Village a further 2 miles away. If you are able to you might be best staying at the Bay campus. If not try the above agencies and the university accommodation section for further assistance. I believe Uplands or the City Centre might prove better for you than staying closer to the Bay due to having better facilities.

The Bay Campus has a food court with a variety of things to eat and a cafe-bar so there are places on campus for students to socialise and hang out. There is also a common room in one of the residence buildings with a large tv, sofas and pool table. Alternatively, the city centre is just a short bus journey away where you can find some restaurants, cinemas and the Quadrant shopping centre.

Hi there,

Your room offer also included a link to the exclusive Residence Facebook groups where you can join and find your flatmates.

I also have pretty much the same question. I think it said a week or two somewhere though.

Just a quick question about room numbers for Bay Campus, trying to see if I'm in the same flat as a mate from school.

The offer says MAN001/000. I know the MAN means Manobrier the building, is the first 002 for the flat? So if my friend also has MAN002 he's in the same flat? And then I presume the last number is the actual number of your room in the flat?

Or at least I hope that's how it is

EDIT - Found something on Swansea's website which explains it. The first part (MAN) means your building as I said earlier. The second part, the 001 means your flat number and the last part is your room number in the flat.

So yeah I'm in a flat with a mate from school.
