The TSR House of Commons“Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber.”
Are you interested in political debate?
TSR has a great model House of Commons. Why not come and give your opinions in it?
The HoC is open to anyone to come and have a say. In the Model House of Commons forum, anyone can start their own petitions and debate bills and motions. You can be as active as you want, or as inactive. You can join a political party (gaining access to that party's private sub forum) or you can just come along and argue. TSR political parties have their own forums, where like minded people can prepare debates for the house floor. All parties also have MPs, elected every 6 months to vote on all bills put forward by the parties and our independent MP, but you do not need to be an MP (or even a party member) to debate them, or even to propose them (as long as an MP backs your bill).
The TSR parties span across the political landscape, from the Socialists on the far left, to the Libertarians on the far right, with everything in the middle. There are 7 TSR political parties, including the Labour, Lib Dem and Conservative parties who emulate their real life namesakes.
So come and get involved! The best way to start debating is to join one of the political parties here or come and say hello in the Commons Bar (unfortunately, no drinks will be served) here.
New to the House of Commons is the ability to submit petitions to the House for debate. These can be on any subject, and can be posted by anyone, as long as you're a registered member of The Student Room. You don't have to be an active member of the MHoC to post one, and you don't have to be a member of any of the TSR political parties either.
Click here to create your petition and debate your idea with TSR MPs!
Examples of previous petitions can be found here.
In addition to the above, an easy to use newbie guide can be found here, which gives further information about how to get involved in the HoC.
If you want to ask any of the parties a question before you sign up, you can ask them in their 'Ask...' thread, which can be found at the links below.
