Hi, in October i'll probably be going to nottingham trent to do a german and european studies. I really want to become a translator, is that possibe or easy to do with this degree? also, what other possible career paths are there for this degree? also, if anyone could shed some light into my employability with this degree at that uni?

Thanks!

Deano.

You can get into a translation from pretty much any degree really, so long as you have the languages. There are a few schools around offering postgrad translation courses, I don't know how anyone manages to do the job without doing the school or lots and lots of traineeing, frankly, it's really rather tough. Ideally you need to know two foreign languages to do most of the courses, though generally you only translate into two of them. (IE. an active (written) use of your B language and passive (reading) use of your C language)
