Sustainability quadrant

Hi guys,

I am only in first year (y12) but am interested in understanding what a sustainability quadrant is (I know you are only supposed to know this in yr13)

Does anybody have any good explanations of it?

As I understand it looks a bit like this:

Equity: Does it benefit l Futurity- will it last?
everyone? l
_______________________ l______________________
l Environmental - is it
Public participation - is it l eco-friendly?
bottom-up? l

I don't know why you say you don't need it - I'm only in year 11 but my teacher's been banging it into us for the last 2 years..

But yes, you have it right, and its just the 4 ways to achieve sustainability. If a question asks if something is sustainable you have to refer to all the different quarters of the quadrat. For instance, a project may be environmentally sustainable, but not take into consideration minority groups, which is the social equity part.

Probably you wanted more detail, being a year older than me, but hope this helps.
