When in the exam and the question says something along the lines of 'Describe the room you are in', are you only meant to write about the exam hall or can you write about ANY room?

Have you ever went 'OFF' topic, do the examiners like it?

Thanks!

How are the markers going to know what room you were in?

Last year, when I sat the November exam, that question was something like "Describe a city", but I just went off on a tangent and actually described a coastal/rural environment (because I enjoy this more and had practised it a lot), and still got about 95%ish on that question.

Also, my teacher had asked at one of the exam training days (AQA) whether students can do what i do, and they said yes.
