Re: Ask Absolutely Anything! (+FAQ)
Planning to do a visit to the school soon. Any recommendations on affordable accomodation in Coventry? Criteria: safe, clean and convenient (preferably near the railway) Probably reaching the city in late afternoon and think I'd better check-in for a night's rest before visiting the next day.

Leamington has some really nice places to stay as well. Check up on the Leamington Travel Lodge as well as the Landsdowne Hotel. Both are really nice for a short visit. -
Re: Ask Absolutely Anything! (+FAQ)Try take a peek around these pages http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/eng/eso/modules/year1 . I'm not an engineer though, so I know as much as you about the specifics(Original post by multiplexing-gamer)
If you take a general engineering degree at Warwick do you have to do modules in Chemical and electronic because I dont particularly like these.

Re: Ask Absolutely Anything! (+FAQ)Joining societies and sports clubs are pretty decent ways to fill up time and meet others you wouldn't normally meet. I'm heavily involved in two socs and a sports club, while I also dip into some others on the side. I know people who do more - but you can choose depending on your workload and when your lectures are.(Original post by JakeT15)
This is a question about living in the surrounding areas around the university after the first year.
Is there much to do around these areas to eat up some of your free time? I'm from London and there is always something going on, and I'm worried that there won't be much happening.
To be honest, in term 2 third year I had lectures from 9-5, 9-7, 9-1, 1-5, 10-4 from Mon to Fri (not continuously, but that's when my first ones started and the last ones ended). I had stuff going on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays after my lectures finished and Thursday mornings was spent recovering from Pop/Score the night before. Weekends could be filled with more stuff, but I choose not to. -

Because I have some lugguage that I'd probably have to lug along. Is it convenient to take a bus? -
Re: Ask Absolutely Anything! (+FAQ)Yep the bus is really convenient. It'll take you straight from the station to Leamington Spa(Original post by hubble)

Say if I brought a PS3 with me, will I be able to connect to PSN and play online games?
You can't bring a router though - just unplug your laptop and put it in the PS3. -

Re: Ask Absolutely Anything! (+FAQ)http://www.appetise.com/restaurants?q=CV4+7AL(Original post by KittyKattyKaity)
Are there any decent Chinese takeaways near the university?
Apparently one in Earlsdon and one in Leamington (why the one in Leamington delivers to campus I don't know).
As for non takeaway a decent one is Noodle Bar in Coventry, which has massive portions and costs about £6,
There's also two all you can eat buffets in CovL
Cosmo in Coventry, which is a buffet, but can get expensive. ~£15 or so
Wing Wah in Tile Hill, another buffet, again a bit expensive. ~£14
In Leamington:
Been on Chandos Street, Leamington is a decent 'eat as much as you like' restaurant - you order and they bring the food to the table. Cheaper than the Coventry options and I personally think it's a better experience than the buffet style restaurant.
Oriental Star is another buffet, owned by the same people as Been.
Sabai Sabai is more expensive, but is a proper restaurant. -

I'm coming over at the weekend with my son for the STEP day and he's addicted to Chinese food! Our flight back isn't until 10pm on Saturday so loads of time for a decent meal out on the way to the airport.
Thank goodness for cheap Ryanair flights, even if I do hate the airline out of principle! -

I normally take the Cov train to London because Euston is really close to where I need to go... -
I think it depends where you want to go from/to. I've heard some stations are better connected to leamington (fewer changes etc) so I suppose you could treat the bus from coventry to leamington as just another connection.(Original post by kuks)

Re: Ask Absolutely Anything! (+FAQ)See attached. Cross reference module codes with the course regulations: http://web.warwick.ac.uk/info/course...-nn35-0001.htm(Original post by Faridk)
Does anyone know what the typical timetable is for Accounting & Finance in Warwick? (or even better, what it will be for 2012/13 if possible)
You probably only have one seminar per module per week/fortnight, so it isn't that packed - just choose one of the seminars per module and disregard the rest.

That's what each thing means.Last edited by TheTallOne; 15-04-2012 at 22:10.
