Bon courage.

Why don't you just get a Chinese tutor, and do a real degree alongside it?

Sorry, but how is a BA in Chinese not a "real degree"?

Really? SOAS pickier than Manchester? I must have checked the wrong courses I guess then.
As for London its because I have actually never lived alone. Don't feel to confident leaving for a place where I don't know anyone.
I got my dad, best friends, and family friends in London so I would have a much easier life there.. They could help me find a place to live and stuff like that

But as you said I am still gonna add universities in other cities than London.. Still, the closer to London, the better I think.
I have 2 slots left and so far I chose Sheffield and Leeds but I might wanna replace Leeds by Manchester or Nottingham what do you think

SOAS is easily the best uni where you can study the Middle East and East Asia, Manchester's way bigger, but not as specialised in the field. Bear in mind that Manchester is 2h30 away from London, there are trains every 10min and very cheap tickets, so even if you're up north, it's probably one of the closest city to London.

As for a place to live, unlike France, you will have your accommodation sorted out by the uni in your first year, meaning you won't have to put up with all the signing contract, checking the house, finding housemates crap, it'll be sorted out for you (and bills and internet are included, makes life a lot easier).

Manchester looks pretty nice indeed.. I guess I'm gonna add this uni rather than Nottingham which only has contemporary chinese courses (Not what I prefer tbh)
Besides the place looks so much cooler.

How cheap are these tickets btw?

And for London its not only about having a place to live, I just want to be close to my relatives just in cace I have a problem (be it for money.. health, whatever. Yea I know I'm such a baby.)

So I think I made my choices now: SOAS - Westminster - Sheffield - Manchester.
Then I'll go to England soon enough to visit the universities, and to get some more informations.

I trust time to give me the necessary elements to make the right choice.. Being in London, being in a reputable university etc.

Hopefully some kind of miracle is gonna happen and I'll have a placement in SOAS but I think I'm screwed already.

Merci beaucoup pour ta considération et tes conseils (;

As low as £9 for a single when they have offers on. Have you contacted the universities to see if they'd consider you? Given that you're really late to apply, it's best check that they wouldn't just reject you straight away, call them (emails are too slow) and see what they tell you. Tiens moi au courant ! :smile:
