From what I saw on google maps, it looks like the City North Campus is just opposite perry barr station. Don't know about parking though. I read somewhere that parking gets full quite quickly and you need to get there quite early to get a spot.

The uni is literally about 5 minutes walk from the uni (Baker building anyway). On Google Maps it looks like it's just across the road, but infact those roads are busy high speed 3-lane roads, so you do have to go through 4 sets of traffic lights if you're walking over, or walk under 2 subways.

So it's lots of stops and starts, but generally, when I lived at The Coppice I always used to leave 15 minutes before the train departure time, because there can be irritatingly long and slow queues at the station when you're trying to get a ticket.

It is very easy to get to, and straight forward.
I don't know how much parking is, although The Coppice parking spaces are used as a car park for staff (not sure about students) on weekdays and that always gets full - so it's best to arrive early.

colddayinthesun, great idea for a thread, really helpful!
I've read in a few places that Perry Barr is a rough area, and you mention it's not good to walk around alone at night...how bad is it? Is it alright walking from uni to say Oscott/Coppice etc (dunno where I am yet).

I'm moving over from Ireland and super excited!

Hey guys, im gonna be studying at BCU City North Campus next month, but I was told to grab an accomodation in Jennens Court because my course (Construction Quantity Surveying) is switching from the North Campus to Millenium Point (just over the road from Jennens Court). Once I had selected my accomodation choices and got offered the place, I rang up to check that my course is still starting at Millenium Point and I was told no! The transition from the North Campus to Millenium Point has now been delayed until December, should all things go ahead. So now I have to commute to the city north campus daily, and was just wondering if anyone else has done this/is doing this/ is plannign to do this? Or if anyone knows how practical this will be?

I've tried getting them to switch my accomodation but they really don't want to know! :-(

I agree completely! I live near Perry Barr and only go out in the car with my parents at night! lol I'm such a scaredy-cat! :woo: :p:
But seriously, don't go round giving people dirty looks, even unintentionally, round here because you hear things that happen....

oh yeah, i never go into One Stop because i don't feel safe there, so if you don't mind a 10 minute bus journey on the 51 then the 651 to Asda, i recommend doing that

As far as I know all the rooms in Coppice aren't en suite, but Oscott gardens which is right next door does...although it is a bit more expensive. From Oscott to my lecture in North it takes literally about 5 minutes

Do you have an unconditional offer, or did you have a conditional offer that turned into a conditional offer ?
