Re: Football Vs Rugby? Is It Boys Vs Men??
I actually really really like a bit of both. Different games different positives. In football someone can score a goal from anything so it provides a lot of excitement but in rugby it could be seen as a good thing that they have to work so hard for a score, its relentless movement and power.

no because I don't play rugby. I prefer a sport where skill is more important than physical attributes.
Rugby just doesn't have as much skill in it as football, tennis, basketball etc. do.
do you want to spend a couple of minutes mulling that over...

Re: Football Vs Rugby? Is It Boys Vs Men??
Funny how football is derided as a sport for whimps when footballers like Duncan Ferguson, Roy Keane and Vinnie Jones would probably give most rugby players a beating. But if you wish to accept manly sports as being a sport for thuggery, delinquent, violent behaviour then that is your choice. Besides, it's not like every single rugby player is full of steel. How often has Johnny Wilkinson been injured now? He's England RFU's version of Arsenal's Rosicky.

Re: Football Vs Rugby? Is It Boys Vs Men??Paha you have to be bloody kidding me, Rugby is the most organised skilled, tactful sport I've ever played. Silly ill-informed stranger..(Original post by Dado Prso)

Re: Football Vs Rugby? Is It Boys Vs Men??I fully agree. Many rugby fans say, "It's a man's game", going on about how strong and big rugby players are, the opposite of football player pansies.(Original post by Seanisonfire)
I don't get the whole 'Rugby is more manly' thing. I mean, is a load of big, sweaty burly men trying to grapple each other in mud really that masculine?
Maybe it's just me, but I watch sport for the skill and technical aspects, not because I enjoy watching big muscley male specimens grappling and hugging each other
I mean, that sounds a wee bit gay.

Re: Football Vs Rugby? Is It Boys Vs Men??
posh people tend to watch rugby
posh people tend to be homosexual
some homosexuals are paedophiles
all paedophiles like watching boys
on the assumption that non paedophiles and hence non posh people dont like watching boys i think this answers your question

Re: Football Vs Rugby? Is It Boys Vs Men??I would have to disagree with you there, there is loads of skill needed behind ever aspect of it. Admitedly I'm not an amazing rugby player, but its bloody hard and I don't have half the level of skill I need really.. gah, tough.(Original post by RonWeasley)
Its very organised and tactful, but it is one of the least technically skilled sports. -
Re: Football Vs Rugby? Is It Boys Vs Men??I wasn't aware that a sport could be capable of "showing skill and sensitivity in dealing with people".(Original post by april_happy)

Not that I want to question how informed a poster you are, of course... -

I was simply disagreeing with a suggestion rugby was unskilled..
Basically rugby requires just as much skill as football, for sure.
Anddd, rugby > footbal..
That is all/ -

Re: Football Vs Rugby? Is It Boys Vs Men??To be tactful is to possess a personal ability for showing tact in a social situation. To be tactical is to show an appreciation of tactics and to utilise them to your advantage.(Original post by april_happy)

A sport cannot be the former. -
Re: Football Vs Rugby? Is It Boys Vs Men??And what about rugby? Hookers are generally sub 6ft as are scrum halves. The only true giants are generally the second row players.(Original post by Dado Prso)
Can be small and still play basketball to a very good standard to be fair.
the position you opt for is just more limited.
The best player I ever played with or against was a 5ft '9 scrum half who was playing for the England under 19s the last time I spoke to him. -
Re: Football Vs Rugby? Is It Boys Vs Men??your totally wrong. There is so much technique necessary in every aspect of rugby.(Original post by Dado Prso)
Like I said there isn't as much skill as there is in football, especially at amateur level. Your list isn't great when you compare it to a footballers list.
I could stroll into my rugby school team in a few weeks without having played it before. No one from the rugby team could do the same with football. -

I never said football wasn't skillful, I just said that rugby required a lot of skill too.. I suppose a short notice offering would be something like O'Driscoll.. But I don't watch too much rugby, I just play it (averagely) =)
