Don't think I will get four As at AS for medicine...
I know there are similar thread like this, but I haven't been able to find the answer to my question exactly on any of them. Basically I think I'm going to struggle a bit getting 4 A grades at AS this year, and have been thinking about whether I can realistically apply for medicine with lower grades if I am predicted As at A2 (I know I can't get predicted high grades unless I show ability, but I'll come to that later). So, is it possible? Are there (m)any people who have or are applying to medicine with grades at AS below aabb? :o:

A lot of sixth forms don't "cash in" AS results, so a lot of people put their AS results as pending on the UCAS forms, so universities don\t tend to use AS results. Also, I got BBCC in my AS levels and got in.

Quite a lot of people don't get straight A's for AS level - nor did I. As long as you can persuade your teachers to predict you good grades for A2 (and can get them!) then you'll manage.

It doesn't matter!! I am currently in year 13 and no medicine applicants got all 4 A grades for AS in my year, not one. And now the majority of them have had interviews and alot have offers, so don't worry about it. Just get your teachers to predict you good A2 grades and all will be fine

Aren't they unlikely to predict those grades unless you've gotten them already?

I got AAAB. Not done me the slightest bit of damage in terms of my application (see my sig)... some of my friends have interviews with AABB and AABC. Don't worry about it, do the best you can, and good luck!

Depends on how your college works and what grades you get - my college predicts you one grade over what you get for AS, yours might do it differently. It might be that if you've been working damn hard in lessons, getting As and stuff, they'll be a bit more lenient if you screw up in the exam and predict you higher.

Thanks. Do you mind if I ask what your gcses were? Sorry I'm sure you've been asked this before, but I'm getting paranoid my gcses won't be good enough (even though they're quite good) as I know nottingham look at them and seeing as I live in nottingham I'll probably apply.
