Surerly we can build a mighty lifter ( http://snipurl.com/s72v ) to fly on, or control the world weather patterns, or re-do some of Tesla's crazy demonstrations or something.....

I'll still be contributing over here even though I've finished my A-Levels (Well, to be accurate, on monday) and proceeding with my Mechanical Engineering degree. Hope I can still help everyone out. Long Live Physics!!!!! Don't you just love this subject?

Hello there! May I join? I'm doing Physics Standard Level for IB, 'cause my school doesn't offer Higher Level... and I did my IB Extended Essay on the Theory of Relativity, though I couldn't get much into General Rel. because of the difficulty of its mathematical model (The Essay was basically a model of interstellar travel according to the theory... quite cliché, if you think of it). Anyway, I just love Physics, and I'd really like to learn more, specially Theoretical Physics...
    See ya!

Physics is brilliant. Astrophysics in particular. The more maths in the physics the better.

I'm doing A Level Physics next year too. Now I can dedicate more time to it as I've dropped a useless subject which I never needed.

Physics is awesome (at my level atleast:ninja: ) but I find a distinct lack of people who appreciate it ^o) Most people prefer Chemistry:s:

I don't know why... I hated Chemistry, never did any work, didn't understand it, and never took any notes because I was too shortsighted to see the blackboard. I got an A, but to this day, I've no idea how :ninja:

    Hah, you're like me then.

I do not get Chemistry for some reason :>.<: I haven't done my GCSEs yet but last two terms I managed to get an A - once again like you, and I have no clue how:rolleyes: - but I'm still quite confused about it:p: . I suspect it's because our teacher is teaching us the syllabus very poorly

Too short sighted to see the blackboard?

Yes, I wear glasses now. My eyesight's not as bad as that makes it sound, but the teacher made me sit at the back, and I was too shy to admit I needed to sit several rows further forward. The room was about 6 or 7 benches deep (imagine proper, old lab benches - the room looked like it hadn't been refitted since they built that part of the school!), and we sat four to a bench, one pair at either end.

I have to say, chemistry's pretty useless if you don't want to do anything in that line of study - noone's ever asked me to do a titration since

However, you can probably imagine my horror last semester when I had to do a module of... chemistry!

So why didn't you just get glasses then?

I don't know, I probably will need Chemistry because I want to do something in the field of marine biology... Maybe, hmm.

What is your line of study?

I think I was in denial about needing them

And I'd grown up with my eyesight, so thought it was normal - noone ever bothered to tell me it wasn't

Physics, as per my signature and this thread :p:

I have to say, I can only conclude that my optician (who I'd seen regularly) was an idiot, because he failed to notice that I have astigmatism and extreme myopia in my left eye (that means I'm short-sighted and can't focus anyway - plus, everything looks elongated), and very mild myopia in my right eye (short-sightedness, which to be fair, probably only developed fairly recently).
