My test is in less than 2 weeks, and I'm getting really nervous. I'm away next week so only have 1 lesson left really. Did a mock test today, only got 2 minors but failed for HITTING A CURB. I feel like I should be driving perfectly by now.

Everyone who passed, did you feel like you were 100% ready before your test? And I'm hoping that despite being nervous on the day, I'll be really focussed and determined to pass whereas currently sometimes I lose concentration for a second or so.

I have my test today, in a mere couple of hours..sick with nerves! I've had about 50 hours/25 lessons, and yet I'm still not hugely confident >.< Just gotta keep telling myself I CAN do it!
    how'd you get on?

I just booked my 5th test, really wish the next two weeks will just hurry up. I'm going to pass this time, I've had enough of fannying around and making stupid mistakes. I know how to drive, I just need to keep confident and calm during the test.

    Hi guys!

Just wondering if any1 else feels the way I do!

Basically I've had 13 lessons, and I can drive well-ish .. but I just don't have the confidence to driver properly I make silly mistakes like not keeping the right speed or not checking mirrors.
My driving instructor says we should just keep doing mock tests from now on... we've had one before and I got soo lost on the 'independent driving' part and I hate mock test...
    What should I do?

I feel like I can drive... but at the same time I can't anyone else feel like this?
right up until the morning of my test I was making silly mistakes like not checking mirrors; both my instructor and I were certain I'd fail for that! passed though, so it is possible! if you're aware of what your faults are though you'll be able to sort them out; just think when you're coming up to a situation where you'd normally make a mistake, such as checking mirrors when slowing down, just think "I usually go wrong here...must check mirrors *check mirrors*" and gradually it sinks in! independent driving you are allowed to get lost, and you can check where you're going just to be certain.

felt about 80-90% ready; knew I could drive well, but kept forgetting mirrors before signalling, slowing down etc, also couldn't do a successful bay park until I got to the test centre that morning...:erm: I found the test to be easier to stay focused because you know that this is 40ish minutes that matter and if you just concentrate and turn your nerves into confidence (at least on the surface) it's not too bad! You're not always going to drive perfectly; even experienced drivers can make mistakes and you're always learning on the road. Good luck with your test

Man that's just indicative of your instructor taking things wayy too slow. I'm not bragging but my instructor let me do roundabouts on my 3rd lesson and I've done all types of road conditions since, including crossroads. What do you do all lesson?
I done roundabouts last lesson and it seemed fine tbh. Ima go over cross-roads, roundabouts and my 4 maneouvres today (my 23rd lesson).

    Hi there!
I have just started learning to drive (I've had 6 hours in 2 hour slots) and saw this and though it's a good idea for all us people who want to discuss how they are doing/ maybe are a bit worried.

So anyway, I think I'm doing okay in my lessons at the moment, I've done turning left and right, junctions, crossroads, roundabouts, clutch control and hill starts, and have been on dual carriageways and done up to 40mph and got up to 4th gear ... apparantly my gear changes are pretty smooth most of the time and I seem to have "good insticts". My instructor is great, he teaches me to do everything by instincts and feeling what I should do by what the car is doing, he's very relaxed and keeps telling me to breathe because I get so tense

My problems at the minute are driving to close to the kerb (this got quite a lot better last week but apparantly I'm drawn to it like a magnet), changing gear from 1st to 2nd (it's very jerky, think I change too early), looking in my blind spot and stalling (used to be a LOT but only stalled once last week  ). Oh, and being a bit too scared to go over to the other side of the road to get around parked cars.

On Wednesday I am doing a three point turn, terrified!

I am hoping to pass by late October, but I can't have any extra hours practice because I don't know anyone old enough who is available to sit with me do you guys think it might be possible to pass just on lessons alone in that time? I have worked out I will have done just under 30 hours by then but I'm not sure if that's enough considering I'm not very confident at all!

Oh, and good luck to anyone close to taking their test!

Everyone is obviously different, but it sounds like you are getting the hang of things well.

I think the October deadline is reasonable, especially if you will have had 30 hours by then. I would keep an eye on the test centre though - you might have to book in August/early Sept to secure a late October date, depending on the wait list.

I had 20 hours over 3.5 months [with a few weeks off, when I came back home for Christmas]. It is doable. I didn't have access to a car at all outside of lessons, but with a good instructor, that shouldn't be an issue.

    Good luck.

Stupid question, but when you adjust the wing mirrors, how far down should you adjust them? What is the correct way to do them? What should you be able to see?

I've just come back from my 2 hours this morning. I'm knackered. It's tiring this learning malarky! I did manoevres today (all of them) so I'll be out practicing those tonight. Got 2 hours tomorrow, 2 hours wednesday, 2 hours thursday, then I think we're sorting out the rest of the week then. There is NO WAY I'm going to be ready in less than two weeks... so I guess for now I'm just trying to get a cancelation test FURTHER away!

I keep messing up with gear changes, and I'm struggling like mad. I can do general driving fine... I'm just trying to take everything in and its not going in! Someone tell me I'll be able to pass soon!

Got my second test on the 16th, but recently, I haven't been able to parallel park at all. It's something I was always able to do, until the lesson or two before my first test. Hopefully I'll have it ironed out by then, it's really bugging me.

I know what people say about it being tiring. I come out after my less with a right bum ache! But yeah, had my fourth lesson tonight. Did much busier roundabouts and going right on them. Also, changed my junction technique so that I clutch/break/change gear at the same time. And I also worked on some clutch control and turning in the roads.

I think I nailed reverse round a corner today! Woop woop! But still a long way to go til I'm confident that I'll pass. Unfortunatly the "days to go" is getting less and less. NOT GOOD. I really don't have enough time at all. I need to somehow just have everything go right on test day so I have nothing to worry about at all.

Just had my 11th lesson and it went extremely well apart from one stall at the end. Before that, everything was good, I did the roundabous easily, the general driving was good and I just felt confident in everything. I stalled when at the end, I was waiting at the give way line at a roundabout just before my house and it was packed. He told me to go and then some dickhead who looked as if he was coming into the road I was on decided to carry on around and I had to quickly brake. I was a bit shocked and so when I went off after that I lifted the clutch a bit quick and it stalled but it was a mistake which I'm sure a lot of people would make and so I'm not bothered by it at all.

What is it with people doing wrong indications on roundabouts? Does my noggin in! I swear, half the drivers out there would fail their tests if they re-took them now. Easy mistake to make, I think even an experienced driver would act in a similar way!

Yeah definitely, I just want to know who runs the 'hire a good driver clone of you' businesswhich these people clearly used for their driving test as from what ive seen on the roads, their business would be very profitable.

I've seen people waiting in the middle at the end of side roads and they just blatantly have no indicators on like it means nothing, that gets me so

Just put them on, it takes 1 second you arrogant prick!
