international student applying to the UK?
    Hey everyone,

    I'm new here!
I'm wondering if there's a thread for intl students applying for UK schools? I'm Chinese with Canadian PR stats, so erm, I guess I'd be looking for a Canadian thread if possible?
    =D

    Thanks!

:woo: I don't know if I've ever seen a Canadian thread, but why not start one?
    I'm willing to help.
I'm Canadian, first year in the UK, so I applied last year.
What would you like to know?

I heard that the British A-level thing is very hard and somewhat harder than the Canadian highschool curriculum. Do you think it is wise to go to a UK college straight out from a Canadian high school? Will I have a hard time or disadvantage compare to other locak students because they have learned more?

It depends what you're looking for. The A-Level system is just different. The Canadian/American university system with its more liberal arts focus is to me much easier because a) it's a more handheld system and b) there is grade inflation which means its difficult to compare them. But if you're looking for a challenging university degree i definitely think you'd find it in the UK.

Hi everyone. I'm a Canadian applying to the UK for undergrad (law) as well. Does anybody know of any scholarships that Canadians can apply to, and use for a UK education?

    Thanks in advance!

Usually just independent ones from the universities you apply to. Nothing national I know of. Although if you're from Ontario it is possible to qualify for OSAP. Not as nice as a scholarship though.

Canadian here too, will be moving to UK in the fall. (Hopefully Visa will come in ! )
Canadian PR status is different from Canadian nationality, so you will probably have to apply as a Chinese national.
Canadian high school curriculum is usually considered on par with A-levels, while US usually required APs, at least for Medicine.
