that is the funniest thing I've ever read on here! dream on!

You're either just wrong or you're trolling. Either way, sling yer 'ook.
Right, I've just removed 3 pages of spam and porn from this thread. I do not want to see anymore, so keep it both on topic and polite please!
I have a part time job. This gives me about £200 odd a month if I only do my basic 9 hours.

I also get a uni bursary of £260 a month.

That all gets me my bus pass, dig money, books and all the rest.

I stay at home to save on accomodation.

I didn't take out a loan so that I wouldn't have to pay anything back at the end of my degree.

My family doesn't give me any money because they make less than I do.

To be fair, it was all one person, who is now banned.
No it wasn't, although they were the main cause.
SAAS do in fact pay for travel expenses, but not the first £100 or so, maybe a little bit more. You also cannot claim this until about February time of the year.
SAAS do pay travel expenses, but these are income-assessed. If you are above the threshold you won't get anything.

I am sure your parents will be able to cover some of your costs if they earn over the amount. I got the same loan- work over summer ans save up, then work part time at uni, get a halifax bank account and use the overdraft!!

Please be really careful about getting into debt. It's not the way forward!! The last thing you want is to be worrying about your increasing overdraft when you're trying to study, have a laugh & enjoy being at Uni.

Give me a shout if you're interested in hearing about an income opportunity that's great for students and will help you stay out of debt!!

looked at the scholarships, and no, cant get it cos of income.
(which actually varies, my dad is self employed, so still dont get the loan etc cos they cant determine when he has a good bad year etc. stupid Saas. :frown: )

no, never thought of emailing them.
what would i say :|

If you haven't emailed them yet, then just send something along the lines of 'I'm going to be a new chem student in Sept and that you were wondering if they know of any companies or organisations that offered bursaries/sponsorship because of the loan situation you have.' I wouldn't worry - academics get sent loads of emails, including from random wierdos trying to convince them they've discovered something or other in their basement, so a polite enquiry isn't going to bother them.

I know one student in her final year at Glasgow who defiantly has sponsorship from a company. Just add in that someone told you that some students got sponsored etc and that you have had a look around and haven't had much luck.

I honestly don't know if it will do any good but it doesn't hurt to ask.
