Bank HCA

If you are looking for a career in nursing - Banking is a great way to see for yourself what kind of area of nursing you prefer, not to mention the wealth of experience and knowlesge you can gain(and get paid for it) - if you are a student it should come in very handy. Private companies mostly pay minimum wage for care assistants and anything around £10-15 per hour for qualified staff(depends on specialism and skill)
Any job you go for make sure you get a tour of the place, speak to the staff and residents, ask about their philosophy of care and make sure you get a job description before you leave. You will have to be CRB checked by any new company which realistically should only take 2 weeks (for POVA Approval - you can start work but only under supervision until your CRB comes through) bearing this in mind take as much ID as you can to any interview so the CRB form can be completed there and then...saves waiting weeks for someone to check your ID through.
PHEW..sorry to go on so much, there is obviously lots more, but if you want any more help do hesitate to ask. Good Luck.

:eek3: :eek3: :eek3: Hiya! I've just started my job as a bank healthcare assistant. Had my induction in February but only got my first shift this month, March.. 1st week - March 5.. Have done 4 shifts so far, 3 last week.. We're on 3rd week now but got a lot of assignments to do in college so I decided not to call them for my availability this week. I am struggling with my finances and I'm dreading to know............. when will I get my first pay? :frown: :s-smilie: I really need your help
If its NHS then will usually be end of the month after. Maybe different for bank though.

Bank staff in our trust get paid weekly of a friday.
Trust staff who do overtime (you have to be in the bank to do that) get paid fortnightly through the bank and monthly through Salary wages.

You really need to go in and just have a chat with someone.
Hey I'm pretty interested in doing some bank work as a health care assistant over the summer, so I applied for a position in a mental health unit. The thing is, I don't actually have any experience working in a hospital, and it says they would like someone with three months experience in a hospital or similar setting. I've got some other experience working with kids and I've been working for the Samaritan's...

So basically, do you think I'd actually have a chance applying for this kind of work? Or is experience in a hospital really vital? I don't really want to spend all my time applying through NHS Professionals if it's a dead end.

Cheers for any advice!

Give it a go, I only had experience working with disabled kids and I got a HCA job.
