French at St. Andrews- prerequisites?

I'm hoping to take French as my 3rd module at St. A's next year, but have noticed it's the only language that offers no beginner level and requires A-Level/AP French. I'm under the American system and, though I haven't studied French at AP level, I've been studying it for five years, am planning on improving my French over the summer, and feel I'm competent in the language as a whole. Would I still be able to take French modules, if I was able to pass an evaluation of some sort?

i would think so. at the beginning of the year they ask you to take a diagnostics test, purely to judge your level in the language. if your french is at a good level, i'm sure you'll do fine in the test and be able to take the module. if you're unsure, you can talk it over with your adviser when you arrive here! hope that helps.
