I read somewhere that it's really expensive to study at Exeter (particularly for accomodation), and I was wondering if people could tell me how true this is, particularly in comparison with other unis.

Accommodation can be expensive, unless you live in self-catering lafrowda standard (about £55 a week), but that is a major **** hole, lafrowda enhanced is a better option for £65 a week. Some self catering is now around £90 a week! Catered accommodation I am not so sure but i think £115 upwards. Food can be expensive on campus too i.e. 70p for a can of coke

City shops/pubs prices no different to anywhere else though I would say

Some accomodation is £130 a week. Terms are only 10 weeks (30 in total) so in comparrison it isn't actually that bad.

Cheapest catered = shared standard = about £90 a week
Most expensive catered = single ensuite = £130 a week

Cheapest self-catered = single standard = about £65 a week
Most expensive self-catered = single en-suite = about £90 a week

So yes it is expensive!! The most expensive catered accom takes up all of the maximum student loan and you end up living in a travelodge (pretty much). Private accomodation is pretty expensive too. Most of my friends at other unis are paying about £50-£60 a week whilst Exeter is more like £60-£70.

Plus being in the south you get overcharged for a lot of things.
