I wouldnt necessarily say the jump is that big, but it requires you to be a lot more sophisticated in your line of arguments and writing styles and looking at your hopeful AS levels (like History), this would help you quite a bit. But then again, getting an A whlst doing your GCSE is bloody amazin! It would be a real achievement but think about it carefully. Your gonna see that 5 AS is gonna be quite a handful, let alone a demanding A2!
Works out I need 75.3% in the A2 year overall to get an overall A. I suppose I've also got like 4 chances to get it aswell:

First year exams
First year resit
Second year (if i need to) exams
and the final desperate grasping of a second year resit...
The jump isnt that big. I took both AS and A2 Lit in the second year of college and I got an A despite not having done any English for a year.
