Are there any nights or places that do drum and bass / breaks / house please? I don't really like cheesy pop or RnB!

There's Yeah! at the Venue on Friday nights, but I'm not sure how often they're ruing the night now. Also if you're not a Kent student you might have to be signed in by one but I'm not 100% sure.

Some floors on most Club Chemistry nights often play house/RnB/DnB (usually the middle and/or top floors)

Plus, it's empty on Friday nights.

Perfect thread, thanks for your effort (even thought it was wrote a few years ago!)

I do like the weekly night out clubbing and I was worried that having come from Liverpool where there's a club or bar every other building I'd be a bit bored but I am more of a bar/cocktail person myself so this sounds perfect for me!

Excellent post, thanks. I love my jump up so hopefully that club will satisfy my needs. If not then I will be consolidated to my room banging out some proper tunes

You can get into the Venue with any valid student card it doesn't have to be a Kent one. If you don't have a student card you have to be signed in by a Kent student. Also ex Kent students can get in with their old Student cards

So talking about 2012 times, what are the entry prices to places like? I come from London so I'm used to expensive but it'd be nice to have some idea. Also the ID issue, obviously I'll be legal but I don't really wanna be carrying my passport around and risk losing it. Will my student card be enough for most places? I have no way of relating this because I know sometimes we go to Imperial College's Union bar in London and a student card is enough and they don't ID on the way in. Just wondering.

The most you'll pay for entry to clubs is a fiver. If you look for the right deals etc etc, then entry can be anything below that. If you're really keen, you can get into the Venue for free before a certain time. :yy:

As for ID, the KentOne card is enough to get you into Venue, and I'm pretty sure it's enough to get you into Chemistry, but I haven't been in a while. I always have my Provisional Licence with me though, which is often just easier (unless of course I need to prove I'm a student ).

Yep I'm getting my provisional soon for this reason, hopefully to get it before uni so I don't have these problems. It probably seems like a dumb question but I know outside London things are more laid back generally. Also a fiver is like half the price of everywhere here! I just read the post and it seems that the time for when you can get in for free is pretty early whereas it can be anywhere up to midnight usually in central London, for example. I guess I have a lot to learn! Thanks though

Just adding in here, Chemistry like you to have actual ID as opposed to student ID, I'm afraid. I know the same is for Chill and probably Cuban too.

Are there any alternative/indie nights on in Canterbury?
I can't stand cheesy club nights!

Also, on average what are drink prices like on a night out?

Alberrys occasionally does some alternative nights. I think they're about once a month though. Drink prices vary massively depending on where you are but generally aren't as cheap as some uni SU's are.
