Are there any people studying a science degree who...

1. Are not doing Medicine, Dentistry, Vet Med or any other related medical/health science course; and do not intend to work in the medical profession.

or

2. Do not intend to go into investment banking, accountancy or any other related financial/economical profession; and do not intend to work in the financial sector.

or

3. Are not doing Engineering, and its branches; and do not intend to work in the engineering sector:

What do you intend to do after your degree? If you do not intend to go into Med, IB or Engineering – what will you do? Do you fear for your graduates prospects?
Note: By science degree, I mean a BSc or MSci (and other related science undergraduate degrees). This also includes subjects such as Geography, providing if it is a BSc or MSci.

Yep. Though to be fair I don't really have any clear intentions as to where I want to work yet, but research or chemical industry are the most likely options at this point.

Well I intend to take an MPhys course in Physics/Astrophysics, there's a whole range of non-medicine, engineering, investment banking science courses :giggle:

I'd love to go into research...but as for the specifics who can tell? Haven't even started my degree yet :dontknow: chances of actually achieving that seem very slim

Oh wow, that sounds so good. :coma: I seriously envy people who are good at the sciences... I find it so interesting, and my ideal course would be something like Physics with Astrophysics... most sciencey stuff is pretty cool tbh, but I just never was that amazing at science at school :frown: The course I'm doing will still interest me a great deal, I'm sure, but I reckon it's great to be good at a broad range of things.
I intend to do Maths at university and I dont fear for my graduate prospects as I think I would have figured out what I want to do by then hopefully! There is always research of course but then there are conversion courses for law, teaching, marketing, advertising etc. I think there is quite a lot out there tbh!

Definitely agreed there :yep: I think I'd have got bored of the 2 Maths and 3 Science thing, couldn't have done it, but I love physics  so science course it is
If I don't get into medicine then I will do a MSc (apply again, then if not) + PhD in Neurosci and go into research. (Or do a MSc in Statistics).

Anything to get away from Psychology, tbh.
I'm going to be doing either Biomedical Science ( someone who actually wants to be a BMS, how strange!) or Biochemistry and intend to go straight into post-graduate study. In the long run, I want to be in clinical biochemistry, so the NHS clinical scientist graduate scheme is something I am definitely looking into but as alot of the applicants seem to have done a massive amount of postgrad study I am not sure what I chance I will have. Alternatively I'll just go straight in as a trainee BMS, it is a long way off yet!

1. Computer Science, and I've no idea what I'll do when I finish. I'm not studying to get a good job or a high salary; I'm studying because I love the subject. I also love mountaineering and I'm training up as a Mountain Leader, amongst other things, so I may go into the outdoors yet.
I study Neuroscience without the intention of going into Medicine. After this, a PhD in Neuroscience and then I would like to conduct research for a university, and hopefully attain tenure.
Teaching for now

I'm not interested in it. I'm pretty much finished with pure (i.e. non-bio) Psychology as I'm specialising in neuro in my coming final year.

Physiological Science or Neuroscience next year (still not sure which to choose).
Hoping to go into research.
Lot of neuroscientists here...

My first choice is Kent, it's in my signature

Generally I hold the attitude:

People are going to find a job eventually. It doesn't matter if they can't find a job for a year or two. It's very small in the grand scheme of things.

I'm hoping to go down the psychology route. Having said that, I haven't been performing as well as I should have if I'm actually serious about going down such a competitive route. My next two years is pretty damn important if I want to maximize my chances. =/
I'm going to uni to do a molecular biology degree. Although typically like of a lot of other sciency people I hope to go into research.

I intend on going onto do an MRes and then a PhD. NOT to do with medical research, more like organismal/evolutionary biology (something like molecular phylogenetics-how everything is related in the 'evolutionary tree').

My absolute dream would be working in the Natural History Museum but I accept the chance of that happening is like 1 in a million; jobs don't come up there often enough. :frown:
I'm not at uni right now, but if all goes well I'm hoping to do (astro)physics, go postgrad and hopefully get into research in that area :moon:

God knows whether that's how it'll all turn out, but it's what I'd like to happen
Physics here. What I'm going to do afterwards, however, is a different matter altogether.
