anyyyway enough about gay porn... let me clarify something now that this thread is really off topic....
BitTorrent nor any P2P software is not in ANY WAY illegal. They are only means to distribute data. The type of data shared is the sole responsibility of the original seeder. And for your information, software firms are beginning to use P2P software as a means to cheaply and effectively deliver their product (as in the case of the Linux OS). Not only that, a high court judge in Canada once ruled music copyright infringement is nothing more than having a photocopier in a library. Thus no more crap about this P2P software as being illegal.
As for my reason for setting up wireless in my room... I have wireless router lying around and I'm going to network my PC with my Pocket PC (for wireless skype & movie/mp3 streaming) -
Do you take anyone here for stupid? Did anyone ever say p2p software was illegal?(Original post by -SKYLINE-)

...Sorry, but you'll have to put up with not being able to use bittorent and all that, yeah you're paying for it, but you're getting massively super-fast internet connection and since it's through the university they kinda HAVE to restrict the usage of what are (whether you like it or not) illegal programmes.(Original post by Evil_Genius)
...P.S.--the sharing through Sharescan is just as illegal as sharing through Bittorrent--it's just a matter of scale. -
You're quoting me out of context--we were discussing sharing of copyrighted material, so when I mentioned that sharing through ShareScan is illegal--I was reffering to that. Besides, I'd like you to show me anything NOT-copyright-protected that would be shared on Sharescan!(Original post by -SKYLINE-)

As to P2P being illegal--it isn't yet, but the companies ARE supposed to prevent the sharing of copyrighted material for the fear of lawsuits as of the Supreme Court ruling from 2 months ago. -
hehe well that just further supports that the use of P2P software should be allowed in the accomodation internet then(Original post by Evil_Genius)
