Quick math help pls!

IB question: Dont worry, its past paper from may 06..

"The graph of the function y = g (x) has a tangent T1 at the point where x=2."

(c) (i) Show that the gradient of T1 is 8.

For my 'Showing' i simply go to "2nd > draw > tangent > 2" and it draws the tangent to the curved function and gives me the equation.

Technically i'm using my gdc to work it out, but would this still count as showing my answer?
The mark scheme states nothing about it :s-smilie:

What level math do you take? Studies, SL, HL?

Either way, I'm pretty sure your "showing" wouldn't count at all. My guesses if you are in...

Studies: you have to draw a sketch of what you see on your GDC, to show what you've done. OR just show the answer, because I think for maths studies you get full marks for any correct answers without working.

SL/HL: derive g(x) to find g'(x) and then use g'(2) to find the gradient.

Studies. And thanks ;D
