Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
My uniform wasn't too bad until they changed it! Originally they had a green vertical stripes blouse, but the stripes were lines and quite faint so it looked fine but then they changed it to a white and green checked blouse with a white collar!!! We all thought we looked like tablecloths! Then one day when some of us were shopping we saw the same shirt minus the white collar in a shop selling Ralph Lauren Polo Sport
gave us the biggest shock of our lives (we were only year 7s) to see that some people were actually willing to pay for our shirt by a designer and wear it because they wanted to!
They've got rid of the white collar now though.
We also had to wear:
- a bottle green skirt (10cm max above the knee - not like anyone ever obliged though except for the first day back
), its a straight skirt but for the first year when they introduced the new uniform it was pleated! That was horrible, as soon as the straight one came out everyone went and bought it or sowed up the pleats on their pleated one
- a bottle green v neck jumper (now changed to a bottle green sweatshirt)
- bottle green tights from years 7-9 then black tights years 10-11
- a bottle green blazer with the school logoLast edited by belle_27; 23-04-2006 at 19:42. -
Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
I once went to Australia on a school exchange and was supprised by the uniform that they have to wear over there. I was exchaning with a girl who went to an all girls school. Her uniform consisted of:
A pastle yellow shirt
A tie - It was sort of a tie cross with a scouts tie...very strange
A Brown V neck jumper
A brown Blazer with a yellow trim and two yellow trims on the cuffs
A brown skirt
and yellow...yes..yellow socks!!!
Lets say she looked like a tree with yellow spots on :-)
Anyway, my uniform is normal - Shirt, Tie, Jumper. -
Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
My uniform's not that bad except it is ENTIRELY navy blue. We have to wear:
Navy shirt
Navy skirt
Navy V-Neck/Sweatshirt
Navy Tights
Navy Blazer/Coat/Fleece/Hoodie
Navy Hairties
Navy Bag
(Oh and black shoes lol)
I remember in year 7 we all looked like little navy blue ants. -
Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
at high school, i had a box pleat navy skirt with an elastic waste, so unflatering. with a navey blazer with school crest, white shirt and a blue white purple and yellow tie. in yr 11we swapped the blazer and tie for a maroon v neck and a maroon tie with crest on it. the yr 11 tie was soo annoying as the crest had to be visable, just below the knot. it took ages to do. now i'm in a sixth form college. you can where whatever you want, the only restriction is that you don't look look like a complete s***.

Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
i liked my old uniform
black trousers/skirt
light blue shirt
navy blue v-neck sweater with school emblem
dark red/blue striped tie (mine had studs in it
)
we were supposed to dress smartly for 6th form but no-one bothered, and besides i also attended the other 6th form in town, which had no dress code so would have felt stupid had i had to havebeen dressed up. -
Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
my secondary school uniform was horrible, i left last year and my sister is still there in yr10 and apparently they are going to change the uniform this sept.
anyway, we had to wear:
bottle green skirt
bottle green wool v-neck jumper with brown stripe on the neck
white open neck shirt, no-tie
white ankle socks in summer
thick fawn socks in winter or thick fawn tights
striped blazer - dark green, light green and brown
and in winter a bottle green overcoat or duffel coat
oh, and the shoes had to be specific brown, flat, lace-ups that you can only buy in one shop
this sept. they're taking out all the brown, and having black shoes and tights/socks and changing the shirt to be white with pale green stripes and the blazer will be striped in 3 shades of green!

Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
I use to wear a navy blazer, white shirt, and a green and black stripped tie, black trousers and black shoes. Wasn't too bad. They changed the uniform again when I was in 4th year but they never made us buy the new one, to a WOLLY green blazer, white shirt, green tie, black trousers, its really ugly, glad I never had to wear it.
I dont go to 6th form, so I dont have to wear a uniform anymore, hurrah

Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
Hows everyone coping with uncomfortable uniforms at this time of year?
I'm just home from school, its 26oC outside, and I've just spent the morning in a classroom with windows that barely open, and sun beaming in. Picture this scene: we are sitting in sun, with over 4 layers on; our blouse, pinafore tunic, wool jumper and wool blazer. Oh yeah, our ties and top buttons had to be done up... with thick black tights. The teacher we had is ultra strict, and didnt allow us to remove anything as it "spoils the schools image etc." We aren't even allowed to roll our sleeves up!
I don't know how they expect us to learn in this heat, especially as the teacher was wearing a light jacket, top and skirt lol. -

Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
Mine was just a beige shirt/pants with a maroon tie (every Friday/formal school event) and maroon blazer for formal school events. I loved it because it was very light and comfortable. Girls were prohibited from wearing drawstrings (most still did anyway) and our shows had to avoid any luminous colours (most just wore standard sports shoes).

Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
yr7 to 11
schools 'special' white blouse (collar was rounded rather than pointy oooh)
house or school tie
dark blue tunic (yr7 to 9, optional in 10 & 11)
dark blue skirt (yr10 & 11)
dark blue blazer (cost a bomb just because it was for our school only..)
dark blue jumper (could choose if we wanted to wear it in the summer, lucky us!)
Navy blue socks & black shoes
straw boater for basically everything apart from lessons
6th form (now
)
Suits with a skirt or trousers (can be any colour really)
Nearly any colour blouse (but have to be able to wear a tie with it)
6th form tie, house tie, or your own if it was 'appropriete'
Waistcoats if us girls wanted to, guys had to!
Best of all, no straw boater
Not sure how weird our uniform was compared to other peoples, was in comparison with some of the other schools near us.

Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
Errmm... at my high school the year 7's - 9's hve to wear:
Black blazer, yellow blouse/shirt, black and a colour (depends wht year ur in) tie, black trousers/skirt n shoes. They look like massive bumble bees! and this is a state school! But this year they have changed it so that everyone can wear white shirts which i find vry unfair coz i had to wear them in lower school and when u reach upper school you get to wear white.... all of our year are soo angry
lol. How bout everyone else?

Re: Most absurd/weird uniform
We had to wear kilts - and no we don't live in scotland. All the guys used to do the highland fling in front of us since we were the first year to get this uniform.
However, the uniform before was white shirt, orange jumper, dirty cream socks (knee high) and a brown skirt and shoes - they used to be called the jaffa cakes!
Could be worse :-) -
