    Re: Interrailing/Eurailing Advice Superthread
The TSR wiki page seems a bit bare. I've literally only just decided I want to go interrailling. Me and a few buddies think we'd be able to get about £500 quid together by August time. Want to hit Germany/Italy and then mostly Eastern european countries (czech, hungary, Poland, etc). Looking to do about 20-22 days. Any pointers to guides/information resources I can read up on to organise this?

    £500 including the interrail tickets?

people told me €50 a day, but I don't know if that includes hostels.

Does anyone know of any good hostels in Berlin? I'm not really into party hostels so a smaller, quieter one would be preferable.

We were looking at PLUS Hostel in Berlin, might be of interest to you. Sadly it's already booked up for when we wanted to be there, but it looks amazing! I didn't research the location much, but I think it's near a U-Bahn station anyway

Revised my trip again now too haha. Now going:
    Berlin -> Prague -> Vienna -> Venice -> Florence -> Rome weee I can't wait!
Then we're also still looking to fly someplace sunny and beachy, on a budget, for a few days to unwind afterwards. Maybe Mallorca!

Does anyone have suggestions of a good place to break up the Vienna / Venice journey? Were thinking of going through Villach, but you can now only get a replacement bus from Villach to Venice, and they only run like 3 times a day so its a bit restricting!

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out.

Your route is quite similar to mine apart from the fact that I'm heading to Slovenia before going to Venice. You could do something similar if you have the time. Otherwise, maybe Innsbruck in Austria? It looks quite Picturesque and is directly linked to Vienna. I'm not sure if it has any direct trains to Venice though.

Just wondered what the 'deal' was in regards to reservations. Obviously several trains require you to reserve a seat, but how far in advance should this be done?

For example, I'm getting a train from Nice to Milan on the 19 July - am I okay to reserve a seat on the 18 July, when I arrive in Nice (the day before) - or would it need to have been done before that?

Just wondering if anyone had a rough ideas of costs for 3 weeks in Eastern Europe, excluding the cost of railcard/train tickets.

So mainly accommodation costs (planning on using hostels) and general living expenses.

Starting in Berlin, probably ending in Turkey or Greece...

I'm applying for a grant and need a rough estimate - I'm trying to come up with my own, but thought I'd see if anyone on here had done it and hence had a better idea of costs!

Trip would be sometime over the summer - July/Aug/Sept

We budgeted £50 a day in Eastern Europe, including accommodation, food, getting drunk every night, touristy stuff etc, and found that was FAR more than we needed

Places like Germany or Greece will be more than the ex-communist places though.

There don't seem to be many people from TSR going inter railing this year, or they are all just hiding.... think I have only seem about 3 people going.

So hunt around other forums, although I didn't have much look finding anyone but then maybe that is because I am leaving in 3 weeks haha

Oh cool, yeah I was trying to fit Oslo into my plans but it was impossible when you only have 4 - 5 weeks. I am hoping to get a ferry from Rijeka to Dubrovnik

    The 22 day ticket
Oh same, I plan to have a few days in Rome before my ticket starts and then another few days in the last place so I should be travelling for about 30 days.
