I'm interested in finding out which university has the most lefties (like me).

So far, my only experience was Sussex University, which has a very politically liberal focus, and lots of interesting radicalists.

Are there any other universities you think are particually left-wing?

Cheers.

SHOO!

Dont come to exeter or I shall be mad! :frown:

Because Scottish people are mostly left wing (judging by election results) then probably a Scottish uni.

Do you have personal experience of that?
Univeristy of East London and London Met.

I personally would have thought Sheffield would be the most obvious one, but if you do actually have something informed to include, please do.

how can a uni have a political bias?

no.

but considering about 80% or something of people in Scotland voted for parties other than the conservatives. I think it is safe to say most of this 80% voted for a left wing party based on the number of MPs from Scotland in Labour, SNP et al.

And then considering Scottish universities are likely to have more Scottish students than elsewhere, and that some have a bias for Scottish students.

I came to the conclusion that perhaps Scotland will be the most left wing.

Of course, I'm just making this up though.
The North seems to hate all the southerners and also the conservatives i.e. the rich...

hahaha.. I visited Manchester a couple of weeks ago, and it definitely did have a cosmopolitan feel to it, esp. Oxford Road

People say that the University of York's biggest society is the Conservatives now but you only have to look at its alumni to see how historically left wing it has been - Harriet Harperson, Tony Banks, Labour supporter Harry Enfield, Peter Hitchens (conservative now but left wing then) and Greg Dyke who looks like a Labour supporter- until he ended up getting the sack that is. I'd definitely speculate that 60s universities will attract more left wingers on the whole than Conservatives.

Unlike Warwick, York has never seriously courted businesses in to attending its campus either - what can be more left wing than that?
Warwick.

It's more of a cultural difference really, although I really think Edinburgh is a great cosmopolitan place after having visiting.
