exam procedure question *important*

In an exam, when a question (and the lines for your answer) only take up half a page, is it okay to keep writing to the bottom of the page, despite there not being any lines? I've heard that as long as you don't go into the margins and stay within the box around the edge then you're fine because the whole page will be scanned in for marking. Is this true? (hope it makes sense)Thank you
Just ask for additional sheets unless it's just like one line, it'll be easier for the examiner than having to read something scrunched up in the white space. They do scan the entire page though

Well, it is ok to go over the lines you are given, as long as the examiner can read it. So if there is a small gap and another question, don't bother writing it there (unless if you are going to write only little amount).

The lines you are given is enough for you to write an answer, and it also tells you how much you should write. so one line would mean an answer or an answer with brief working out.

However, since the whole page will be scanned (at least inside the borders), you can write in the blank space.
