Which uni are you going to? As London based universities will obviously cost more.

Are you getting a job? Even if its only a few hours a week, it all helps.

I would like to plan ahead, but have absolutely no idea how to plan how much im going to spend. Can anybody give me some ideas or even draw up a generic on for the year?

I fear my current balance just may not be enough.

Your best bet is to wait until after the first couple weeks as then you will have a better idea of what you need to spend. It would be pretty pointless for me to give you any figures as mine will be completely different to what yours (or anybody elses) would be.

I'll do mine:
WEEKLY
Accommodation - £122.92
Food - £40-50
Socialising - £50

lol.. that's pretty much it, i have a couple grand for clothes, books etc
I do mine weekly..

Acom : -£85
Food :- £30 - £35
Social : -£20 - £25
Phone : -£10

wages: +£65
righto guys i heard that the average student needs £9000 a year. However that would take into account Londoners and also tuition fees. Tasty.

Food - £50-£70 (depends how many take-aways)
Rent - £65 (Private accomodation)
Phone - £6.25 (£25 a month)
Car - £10/£20 (fuel...obviously becomes more expensive if something goes wrong/MOT/tax/insurance etc)
Socialising - £10/£20
General - £10 (laundry, other random expenses).
Tobacco - £10/£15

So that little lot comes to about £200 a week. Mind you, I tend to spend more than alot of students.

Don't forget to factor in one off expenses like house deposit, books etc.

EDIT - oh, I forgot to add the HP for my car onto that. I won't bother though because that will just scare me! :p:

Last year per week.....

£85 accomodation (catered)
£25 socialising etc
£10 bits and pieces
and that was about it at £120 a week

Next year...

£60 accomodation
£20 food
£10 bills
£25 socialising
£10 other bits
which is everythihng at £125

Obviously on top of that are one offs like books and so on and also paying for my car.
