Nice you want to be a politician and cant think of something to say that doesnt offend people.
Tbh if you get BBB you should look at the uni table Times or Gaurdian and match your grades to a university simple. If you dont know where or what to study best have some time reserved to decide what to do next perhaps take a gap year. Transfering from one course or even university cant be that hard.
Why did you choose to study at Leeds met in the first place?
I think "thickos" is derogatory though LoL you'll just have to go there and find out for yourself.
    I'm not

I would rather repeat my education from year 7 than go to Leeds Met
My cousin went there and got a 1st in Law and now he works as a dustbin man
    Waste of money

you cant blame a uni for him being a dustbin man, they can only give you the degree you have to do something with it afterwards

This is an awful thread. To the person who posted it, you might want to learn how to use punctuation correctly before asking if Leeds Met is full of 'thicko's'. I will be attending Leeds Met in September and am more than happy with my choice. I have a few friends who have graduated from Leeds Met, some who had A level grades way above the entry requirements and they all have good graduate jobs which they enjoy. If you look down on the institution then it probably isn't the right choice for you, but if you want to ask about the credibility of the university, you might want to consider going about it in a more politically correct manner, especially for someone who wants to study politics.

I completely agree with this post.

I'm attending Leeds Met in september having achieved AAB in my A-Levels last year. Okay, a first in Law from Cambridge will be looked on as being better than one from Leeds Met or another non-redbrick university.

But it's what you make of it! 'm studying Marketing, because the facilities at the new rosebowl building are fantastic, and Leeds Met's business school is fantastic. As a city, it's vibrant and non-stop, something which I look forward to being a part of. Ultimately, if you work hard durin and after university, you'll succeed.

To the person who made this thread, and everyone who simply wrote ''yes it is,'' or ''avoid leeds met,'' grow up.

well i go to leeds met out of choice,
i could of gone to any of the uni's i applied to, i even got offered a scholarship at the one but i CHOSE to go to leeds met, it was the only non seaside/not southern uni i applied to and it won... way cheaper up there.. even the vue cinema is 70p cheaper than the one at home!

its not just full of thickos...!
its full of people who arent up them selves/snobs/a*holes...
our rag society is full of normal lovely kind people... not the rah's you get most places!

most who go there DID go to a private school, i remember a party in our flat where while drunk someone decided to discover if anyone else didnt go to a private school... out of about 20 there were 2 of us...

go where YOU want to not where OTHERS tell you to...
go where you will be happy...

OP, I don't know what replies you were expecting by making a post about Leeds Met students being "thicko's" in the Leeds Met forum.

Just a quick update to say that I got the job at the second interview and start in September! They had no problems at all with it being a Leeds Met Degree, it didn't even pop up in conversation and there were over 70 applicants.

My personal opinion is that for a more traditional course like Politics, you might notice a fair difference with other unis that you could get into with your grades. I'm sure Leeds Met has a lot of great courses, but my guess is that they'd mostly be the vocational ones. I did Politics and the experience really does depend almost entirely on the lecturers at the uni.

I'm doing a Masters at an ex-poly btw having come from a redbrick with a first... it really isn't about the reputation of the uni, it's entirely about the reputation of the course.

I chose Leeds Met because it's one of the best in the country for Events Management.

    Dear OP,

Are you trying to be a complete idiot or is that just the way you are?

Firstly, 'thicko's' is not a word. Even if it was then you have incorrectly used the apostrophe. You learn how to use an apostrophe in PRIMARY school, so it could be argued that my 6 year old sister is more educated than you are.

Secondly, even if it were full of 'thickos' why should you let that affect where you study? It should be about what you want, not the intelligence of others.

Thirdly, why would you be so idiotic as to post such an offensive and - lets face it - grammatically incorrect comment on a page in which many of the people who you will be spending the next three years of your life with will read it?

I achieved really good grades in both my GCSEs and A-Levels and chose Leeds Met because I like the city and the course.
If I were you I'd think very carefully about what you say (or write) in future because you came across as a bit of a moron.

Well done for ******* off your future university mates (Y)

Re: is leeds met just full of thicko's?
I've just read some of the other posts on this thread..

    Why are you even here?
What do you all think gives you the right to call EVERY person who attends Leeds Met a 'thicko'?

Yes, the entry requirements are lower. But, universities such as Leeds Met only exist because a lot of the more prestigious universities don't accept anyone who gets below AAA. It's not fair that people who don't achieve the highest grades shouldn't go to university.

GCSEs and A-Levels are will not tell you how intelligent someone is. All they can do is let you know how good you are at memorising facts since you spend 7 years of your educational life learning how to pass specific exams.

'Thickos' are the likes of people like YOU LOT who are too narrow minded to see that you are listening to stereotype and slander.

Why not learn to think for yourselves instead of just listening to what the media tells you?
    Idiots.

And before you all try attacking me, lets be honest - I'll own you.

    Done.

    Hiya,

I got AAB on my A Levels of English Lit, Politics and History at a Grammar school and still came to Leeds Met. I've just transferred from their Sports Coaching course to the Politics one and I swear the University's amazing. Leeds as a whole is student centred anyway and if your gonna let people's perceptions of somewhere actually affect you now, maybe you looking at the wrong course because in Politics you will need to be self-aware and not make decisions based on people's opinions. The points are so low becasue Leeds Uni offers the same course and has a higher intake of students so they know that they'll have fewer applicants. Also, Leeds Met is a vocational univeristy renowned for its Sports Courses and its Events Management courses so its pure academic courses usually have less applicants but that doesn't take away the fact that it's an amazing university with an incredible atmosphere. I got an unconditional offer from Durham to study Politics and I'm glad I came to Leeds Met instead honestly. But I think you need to make the decision on the University's merits and not on peoples perceptions.

Some people may have lower grades yes, but my friend goes there having achieved AAA at A level. He really likes it as the university is very rich and so is constantly expanding, with two new buildings having being built recently.
False Leeds Met got hit bad like all Universities. It currently built new things on funding that disappeared so is now in decline and recession. It was rich 3 years back, had huge marketing budgets and had the best quality student card in the country, all that is behind it now though.

i wanted to study event management so got a place to do it at leeds met.
i then desided actually i wanna do politics
i will get bbb at a-level but poltics is full at most good uni's and i can quite easily transfer at leeds met.
but the bounders are like 200 pionts which is really low, will this course just be full of stupid people.
what are the people at leeds met like? thanks x
Ring up Leeds Uni find out if any places left on there course and if they would take a BBB, do it ASAP! If not interested stick with Leeds Met, it's not all bad just hang out at the Leeds Uni campus since, Leeds Met city campus is pretty pants.

That said I can introduce you to people at both Leeds Met and Leeds Uni doing politics, they have the three political party society student wings at the Universities. I can sign you up to the Lib Dem Liberal Youth If not my close friends run the Leeds Conservative Future
