Re: "Game of Thrones" HBOI haven't watched it yet, but this makes me even more excited to.(Original post by Abbadon27)
This weeks episode was (imo) the best of the second season.

Re: "Game of Thrones" HBO
I can't wait to watch the new episode later! Although a deviation from the book is bugging me.
Spoiler:ShowIf I was Arya in the TV version, I would see no reason not to name Tywin as one of the three names to be killed. In the book I think the only reason she doesn't name him is because he's away from Harrenhal. But in saying that, since the first death was different from the book, I'm wondering who she'll name next.

Re: "Game of Thrones" HBO
Definitely one of the best episodes so far.
Spoiler:ShowThe Arya/Baelish scene... nearly had a heart attack. Fully thought she'd get caught. Also, love how Jaquen managed to kill the guy. It was so close.
Theon, what a ****. He's such an idiot. But I'm liking Osha more and more. I see they've bought back the nudity
Jon and the wilding Ygritte
Cringe for him laying next to her. Couldn't stop laughing at her... squirming. I like how his plot is developing more now.
Watching Joffrey getting slapped.
So good. Poor Sansa though. I hated her in the first series but can't help but feeling for her. Best line: "Did my hand fall from my wrist?"

Re: "Game of Thrones" HBO
lol someone already made a gif and put it on the internet, boy the world moves fast.
I didn't find this episode to be anything special tbh, especially as a book reader since this episode has deviated the most so far from the source material. I loved season 1 as it stuck pretty close to the books all in all. However season 2 is a different story and while I completely understand condensing and cutting parts where necessary to fit the book into 10 episodes, I do not understand or appreciate seemingly pointless changes and additions of little substance that detract from the quality of the narritive and take up valuable screen time that could be used to show events from the book.Last edited by Some random guy; 07-05-2012 at 16:26. -
Re: "Game of Thrones" HBOYeah, I agree. The first book and the first series were pretty consistent, but the second series seems to deviate from the book a fair bit.(Original post by Some random guy)

I still haven't even completely finished reading the 2nd book yet, though

Re: "Game of Thrones" HBOI recommend downloading from TPB. There are streams you can find on sites such as Blendseries, but downloading tends to be better quality and saves you a lot of frustration in finding a good link with a steady buffering rate. Though legit torrents can take up to half a day after the episode airs to be uploaded while streams tend to be up just a few hours after the episode airs.(Original post by Unfair Life)
Fed up of watching the series in poor quality, I don't have Sky Atlantic, so I can't watch it on TV. Anyone know a good place to watch the episodes in good quality? I watched this weeks episode anyway, so it would be for next week and future use
.
Hope that was helpful

Re: "Game of Thrones" HBOWhat specific alteration are you referring to? I don't think the deviation is that much of a problem and I wouldn't say that it detracts from the quality at all. The first series was brilliant and so is the second one so far and I trust that Benioff and Weiss know what they are doing.(Original post by Some random guy)

Re: "Game of Thrones" HBONope. If the TV series carries on at the rate of the books ,i.e. one paperback book per season, by the end of the seventh season we still won't know where Benjen Stark is. Unless George Martin manages to complete the next book before then, which isn't as likely as I'd hope.(Original post by Boom533)
Love this new Jaquen h'ghar assassin guy
Also, any idea where Benjen Stark is? -
Re: "Game of Thrones" HBO
Some of the changes from the book do seem a but random, but I won't judge them until I see where it ends ups
Spoiler:Showi.e. The dragons getting stolen
And tbf some of the changes have made the show better, the Arya/Tywin scenes have been my favourites this season.
And Theon's a dickhead, can't stand him.
Was a good episode, 8/10. -
Re: "Game of Thrones" HBO[spoiler] the only thing I can think of is that its technically him keeping her and the rest of the common people safe from the mountain/the tickler.(Original post by briesandwich)

Spoiler:Show
I understand your point of view, but I'm not sure I agree with it. I'm watching this series having already read all the books, and as far as I can see, the vast majority of the changes Benioff and Weiss have brought into the story are reasonable given the different medium of storytelling. Killing the Tickler off now makes sense as with a TV show, you don't have the characters' internal dialogue to keep reminding you why a person is evil and has to die. If they'd brought the Tickler back into the story ages from now only to kill him off, chances are most people wouldn't remember who he was or why Arya was so eager to see him bite the dust. In this latest episode, the Arya scenes provide a valuable insight into what's going on in the Lannister camp and Tywin's head. Rodrik's premature death was unfortunate, but the death of Farlen or Mikken or whoever it actually was that Theon killed in the books just wouldn't have the same impact on the TV audience. Again it comes down to internal dialogue; in the books, we have the kids' thoughts to tell us what a nice guy Farlen was or what an awesome job Mikken did forging Needle. In the series, they'd just be cameos introduced so they could be killed off. At least we'd seen Rodrik before. That one did leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, though.
The only change that left me really bemused is the dragon theft. I guess I'll reserve judgement, but I can't help feeling they just threw it in there to create a bit of urgency in Dany's story. If that's so, don't know why. It all becomes pretty urgent anyway.

Re: "Game of Thrones" HBO
I think I prefer big deviations from the book such as in this episode, it messes with my mind less
As its own story, it's going well, and there's that incentive to see how story arcs are reconciled with the book.
Also, Osha and Theon is probably something I'd have found annoying before, but I actually found that funny. Not in a good way, I suppose, because it was the writers shoehorning sex in wherever they had half an excuse again, but perhaps I'm getting used to it.
