it's all because I got a U in my AS Biology practical..
I did okay in all the other subjects.
but the one I needed the most (Biology AS practical) I couldn't resit it because of my teacher?
    =/
your a levels are AABBD which is pretty decent, most universities only want 3 full a levels at offers around ABB to A*AA so you could go for it if you want

Generally, AAB is the absolute minimum. They may offer lower, but you probably wouldn't past the academic screening or such without AAB unless you have extenuating circumstances. Same with resits, they're mostly not accepted without extenuating circumstances.

Two med schools accept resits without penalizing you. Check the TSR wiki.

lot of BS in this thread so far Ive noticed,
taking 3 years to do A levels is something they pretty much all schools don't accept people on, if you really wanted to do medicine then I reckon you'd have known this and maybe took less of a risk with the number of A levels but that cant be helped no. Unfortunately a lot of the uni's are asking for 3 A's now for 2011 entry
you have to know individual school policies because they do change so research is key, phone them I would say and ask.
Yes post grad is definately an option

I think I might be going for post grad, I dunno yet.
would they still penalise me for my A-level resits?
or do they just expect me to get a good grade in Uni?

I call ********. You're doing maths at Warwick. You wouldn't have got in there, and got offers to do medicine with the same personal statement.

If you didn't meet the medicine offers and reapplied to maths, I don't see how Warwick would have accepted you given you failed to meet the AAA/AAB medicine offer.
Lovely. My deliberation was always between Maths and Medicine, and I applied last year (2009 application cycle) for Medicine, got two offers, and over the summer changed my mind about wanting to do it. That's why I'm on a gap year, and doing further maths - for my Warwick Maths offer.

Hi, I'm planning to apply for Medicine for 2011, but the University I am applying for requires Biology to atleast in AS.

The problem is that I didn't manage to do Biology at Year 12 because I was late for the enrolment and the places for Biology is full. I am currently doing Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Psychology. And I am pretty sure I am doing well in these subjects with atleast B and above grade for all.

So, my plan is to do AS Biology for Year 13 replacing one of my subjects, the only thing I'm worried about is that, are they going to accept it for 2011 Medicine with no predicted grades or actual grade?...
My friend did that. She took Biology AS in year 13 and she got an offer from KCL and QMUL for med. Just make sure you get good predicted grades in the subjects you are doing. You should be fine Oh and I don't understand when you say with no predicted grades? Surely you would have predicted grades from the subjects you are already doing?

you only need chem at a level and at least 2 of biology physics or maths at as level.

Birmingham has a cut off of 7/8A*s I think, pretty sure Cambridge requires 7A*'s too, not sure on the others.

    Negative.
I was at an Oxbridge conference where the representative from Cambridge advised that you not bother applying if you had less than 7A*s at GCSE and that was for non-medical courses, but I'll grant that they don't have an official requirement.

You don't need 7A* to get an offer from Cambridge. Just take a look at the applicants profiles thread.

Re: Applying for Medicine, but didn't manage to do Biology at Year 12
It would be helpful if you took AS Biology in Year 13.

As the years are going by, as more and more students are applying for medicine, the med schools are/will start to ask for Chem AND Bio at full A-levels.

That's really unfair that you didn't get into the AS Biology class.

At my college, there were tonnes of places left over.
You should've come to my college
