    Thank you so much! This and everything else you provide for us on TSR is soooo helpful. Is there any chance you can include the january 2012 grade boundaries in the spreadsheet?
    Yeah I will no worries

    lol thank you
    so to get an A* in fm i would need to average 270 ums between any 3 from FP2, FP3, S2, M2 or M3?

    Yes

    but.... they will automatically swap your application units between Maths and Further Maths to get the best grade in Maths first. If you need S1&S2 or M1&M2 in Maths to achieve 480 UMS they will do it.

    Hey, could I ask you a question?

    I have done C1, C2, C3, C4, S1 and S2 atm. If I did Further maths next year, I would be doing FP1, D1 and M1.
    So when I cashin, if I got higher marks in M1 than S1 and S2, will M1 be used in cashingin the maths award, instead of the intended further maths award?

    (Eventhough S1 and S2 are lower than M1, they contribute enough to get me at least 480 UMS)

    They will automatically rearrange modules to give you the best possible outcome overall. They aim to give you the best possible grade in Maths first with the highest possible UMS score (some Uni offers will specify UMS targets as well as grades) while ensuring that you get the best possible grade in your FM AS. (If you are getting an A in Maths anyway with S1+S2 they won't move M1 if the result is a worse FM AS grade). If there are specific reasons to combine units in a specific way to meet your offer your exams officer can talk to Edexcel when you have all of your results.

    Re: Edexcel A-Level UMS boundaries (All attached)
    So here is how my summer 2012 predictions went down

    C1

    59 – 80ums
    52 – 70ums
    45 – 60ums
    38 – 50ums
    31 – 40ums

    A = 59
    B = 52

    C2

    80ums - 65
    70ums - 57
    60ums - 50
    50ums - 43
    40ums - 36

    A = 63
    B = 55

    C3

    63 = 80ums
    56 = 70ums
    49 = 60ums
    42 = 50ums
    35 = 40ums

    A = 64
    B = 57

    C4

    58 = 80ums
    51 = 70ums
    44 = 60ums
    37 = 50ums
    30 = 40ums

    A = 63
    B = 56

    :eek:

    M1

    64 – 80ums
    57 – 70ums
    50 – 60ums
    43 – 50ums
    37 – 40ums

    A = 66
    B = 59

    M2

    80ums - 56
    70ums - 49
    60ums - 42
    50ums - 35
    40ums - 28

    A = 57
    B = 50

    S1

    61 - 80ums
    53 - 70ums
    45 - 60ums
    37 - 50ums
    29 - 40ums

    A = 61
    B = 54

    D1

    61 - 80ums
    54 - 70ums
    47 - 60ums
    40 - 50ums
    33 - 40ums

    A = 64
    B = 58

    D2

    80ums - 65
    70ums - 57
    60ums - 50
    50ums - 43
    40ums - 36

    A = 64
    B = 54

    So other than C4 I don't think those predictions were too bad.

    I will update the spreadsheet in the first post at some point.

    (Original post by Arsey)
    EDIT - UPDATED NOW UPTO Jan 13

    I am asked a lot about past boundaries

    Here is the lot!

    Jan 13 Arsey's estimation review

    Jan 13 Module - actual for 80ums - my guess for 80ums

    C1 - 58 - 59
    C2 - 64 - 67
    C3 - 62 - 59 (surprised, I thought this was a tougher paper)
    C4 - 61 - 63
    M1 - 64 - 65
    S1 - 61 - 59 (I am surprised they are so high given the harsh mark scheme)
    D1 - 62 - 64 (I said it would be low so went for the previous lowest Jan mark)

    soooo, I didn't get any right. Average was 2 out.

    EDIT - I have created the attached spreadsheet. This is NOT breaking any copyright laws
    Arsey is the 100ums boundary for C1 an estimate or a real value? I got 73 so gutted

    What the hell is up with S2 the grade boundary is even higher than June are you ****ing kidding me, that mosquito question was all kinds of hell :mad:

    On the bright side I could have possible got 100ums on C3 (minimum I would say of 97) and possible 90ums in C4 (minimum of 87)

    Could have scraped an A in S2 and probably just missed the A in M2.

    I'm not familiar with the UMS system, can someone help?

    Apparently you can get 92/93/95 UMS marks, but the spreadsheet only has 100/90/80 etc, so say how do you know what exact UMS mark you have?
