C3 Question
Given that x^4 + 3x^2 - 1 / (x+1)(x-3) = Ax^2 + Bx + C + (Dx + E / (x+1)(x-3), find the values of A, B, C, D and E.
I used the long division method, but I want to be able to use the remainder theorem method too, just incase. However, I keep getting stuck.

Multiply through by (x+1)(x+3) and equate coefficients?
That's what I'd do, and (I think) you never have to use long division.
